Another patch. Numerous some barely any bug fixes. Just none for the professions.
How does the Necromancer community feel about the progression of the class?

I feel the class is progressing ridiculously slow. It actually makes me not want to play this game seeing that the major issues that EVERYONE know about won’t be touched.

And you know what Anet, I realize that you’re trying to get other bugs out of the way before focusing on profession specific bugs, but you are LITERALLY pushing your customers away when we are the ones that you should be focusing on, but yet, we’re ignored because there’s some design flaw in how the environment works or any other X, Y, Z bug that doesn’t have to do with a profession.

I just feel like Anet is being a procrastinating college kid on an intricate class project. They’re focusing more on what is indirectly effecting us before focusing on what is directly effecting the player, and that is profession dynamics, and bugs.

I could honestly not care about bugs with loading screens, etc, if what I’m going to be playing once that loading screen is over, is complete/mostly garbage.

@ Anomaly – I don’t know if you meant it this way or not, but your post read rather childishly.

As for the topic, this patch was obviously to fix some unintended issues created by their former patch, nothing more. It is much easier to fix a bug when it is fresh and you can pinpoint when it was caused because the variables are so much fewer.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

This looks like a troll thread created to stir up the Necro forums, yet why a troll would put his toon in his sig I don’t know. Perhaps I’m mistaken.

In other news, Necromancer has actually had many more bug fixes than most professions, our list of bugs was the first one they looked at and stickied and they have also noted, even before launch (during late beta), that Necromancer needs some love and they are going to keep working on it.

Keep up the good work, Anet.

Yeah it’s too slow. The class is in a similar state to how it was at release. Thief, mesmer, and guardian are in a similar state to how they were at release. I saw faster changes between beta events so I know they could do something. Imo the game’s balance is a joke.

IMO there would be a lot more qq on these forums as well (why wouldn’t there be, very little has changed. minions still kitten. life leech still kitten. ds still kitten for condi build. ds trait line still crap since ds is crap. death magic still way too minion traits. axe still crap. etc etc) but a lot of people have just moved on & quit the game or rerolled.

As for the fanboys etc, comments like ‘oh why u being so negative’: why would I not be negative? If people aren’t negative, then why would they think something is wrong? There are other bugs which definitely should take a priority to class ability fixes such as the rendering & loading screen problems, but not many.

Glad they fixed the endless loading bug in PvP.

I guess the next bug/balance patch will be released Sunday. Let us hope this time they actually fix bugs without breaking other things or nerfing some random necro abilities.

Play another class if you don’t enjoy necro. It is perfectly viable. Yes, it has bugs. Yes, it is viable. Yes, the bugs are eventually getting fixed (even if none this week.)

Basically, play the profession if you enjoy it. If you don’t, probably don’t whine about it endlessly on the forums but just play a different class.

This is not necessarily you, but there is way too much Forum Wars™ in general on the official GW2 forums. That is, people complaining about professions being bad and overplaying their weaknesses in the hope that they get buffed so that they can become pvp gods of some sort. My advice would be less forum wars and more actual playing.

If you would really rather play a warrior, or thief, or whatever, by all means go ahead and do so. Necro is fine as is though. It is a defensive profession, and that means it has a certain slant to it. As long as you don’t try to play it as an offensive powerhouse, you should be happy with things.

One of the main points I thought Anet wanted to make was that you could play how you wanted? You don’t have to be a tank (“defensive profession”), a healer, or a dps; you can free yourself from those archetypes.

Honestly, I’m not seeing too much of that except there are really no dedicated heals. Necro has hardly any TRULY viable builds (not builds that just manage not to completely suck) for pvp and that’s a problem for a lot of people. It’s even more a problem for the people who don’t like the style of those few viable builds.

Personally, I’m just taking a break until they fix the only class I really have any interest in playing. I’ll just keep checking the forums and hoping to see a huge patch/overhaul of necromancer skills/traits/mechanics/BUGS.

The amazing thing is, I play my necro in game, in spvp, etc, and have a blast. I do quite well in whichever role ive chosen and just generally have fun. PvE is easy, even WvWvW is fun on my necro.

Yet when I come here, apperantly according to a vocal group here I should not be having fun. That my experiance must be made up in my head because the necro is so fundamentally broken that people are dying to rabbits and other critters. I browse a lot of other class forums too. Every one of them has people like this, complaints about how woefully underpowered their class is. The necro has bugs, yes. Several actually. So do other classes. Balancing is a delicate thing. If Anet listened to each community here then the balance between classes would be so far askew that it would be hilarious.

Guys, quit being so kitten entitled about this kitten. If you dont like the class, there are 7 others to play. No class is going to be the best at everything. Play to your strengths, and quit whining about your weaknesses.

I do not see how wanting bugfixes is being “entitled” (worst EA propaganda buzzword of the decade, btw).

Minion AI is kitten. There is really not much to argue about that.
Ever seen your flesh golem pull half of Orr?
Ever seen your flesh golem chill out with his bone minion and bone fiend friends, while you try to run away from a thief who is heartseekering you to death?
Is this really working as intended?
Or take plague signet. Great support tool on paper, however it just copies the conditions on you, making it a really dangerous choice, after the latest “fix” to it.

And then there are things like Jagged Horrors… I dont even want to talk about them. People would LITERALLY prefer not having a trait instead of this trait.

I am sorry to tell you, but fixing this has NOTHING to do with “delicate balance decisions”. It is a simple case of bugfixing. Telling people that they are “entitled” is just being childish and unreasonable.

I said ‘his right what’ implying you had left off a word or two and were speaking of something on the op’s right.

Well technically the joke didn’t make much sense because he said “you right” instead of “your right” for which your reply would have been funny. Of course given his context it should be spelled “you’re right.” But it would have been more funny the other way; then your joke would have co-opted his grammatical error for its own correct usage.

I also highly doubt that you were trying to make a play on something to his right because that would also not be humorous for his intended usage. If he had said “your right” and you said “your right what?” then right would have a possessive connotation e.g. your right hand. The referent object of “what” would refer to something possessed rather than something other “to his right.” Semantics.

BTW I like coming to Necro forums from the Ranger forums because it makes me feel like Anet isn’t really singling one profession out to ignore.

As a GW1 player, Elementalist was my first choice for GW2. Necromancer was my second. Between the kitteny state of these two professions and the extreme dumbing down of the whole game overall, I’m more than a bit miffed that Anet hasn’t done anything to fix either of these professions.

Right now I’m switching between warrior and engineer. Warrior so I know what a profession in GW2 is supposed to be like and engineer so that I can actually be slightly challenged (not just by the many profession bugs). But I’m losing interest fast. If Anet doesn’t start making strides towards fixing either elementalist or necromancer in the next month I will probably uninstall GW2 and try it again next year, after they’ve gotten the elementalist or necromancer ready for release.

I think the main issue is that while you can trait for any of those, the nearly random aggro mechanic results in everyone turtling up in case they run into some mob that will ignore everyone but them. This also makes a bad dodge less expensive in terms of health and repair costs. And in any kind of PVP it provides some measure of protection against being blindsided by a heavy hitter. End result is that once people go beyond open world PVE, they convert their build into a tanky healer as best they can.
