Any known working build for Necro WvW?
Yes; man a cannon – I get plenty of kills with 2-3 hits.
If you don’t want to be disappointed don’t try to kill other players. Play support and let others claim the kills.
@HappyCerberus, shouldnt i be able to get some kills as well? I know 70% of the people in this game only care about how much points they get them selfs, but im just asking for people their experience, i dont think ANet meant Necro to only be support… would be kinda dumb.
Like Guardian is kind off overpowered, I think Necro is kinda underpowered ><
So I hope someone has experience and is willing to share, cause some tokens would be nice from WvW lol
I’ve found that a nice rounded Mark/Well build is nice especially if your defending. Drop them all under the folks using the ram and they usually die or get away really quickly. Granted if you are ever caught alone your not going to survive very long but having the option to make areas of the battlefield unappealing to the enemy is very useful in WvW.

- take a higher ground after yak interception, pugs would often follow you off the hill;
- pull ppl off walls in sieges;
- only about 1s gap in swiftness, with this setup; can go for corrupt boon instead, it’s up to you;
-gear is khilbron set with sup afflicted, 2 sup corruption on horn/scepter, +10 bleed duration on staff;
- lay marks, when in cd change to horn/scepter to accumulate corruption;
oh, and pop lich early in 2-3 on 1 fights;
So far, this has been doing tolerably well in wvw, I was pretty happy with it until i tried other profs lol With enough practice the other team will absolutely hate you.
edit: you would have to move a lot so a multibutton mouse helps; also, bind a look back key and learn to run looking back bc you can lay marks behind you while moving considerably faster.

Plenty of working builds. Not sure how you’re dying in four hits in full exotic gear, that stuff gives a ton of armour and you have a ton of health. Four trebuchet hit on you? x) And honestly, four hits can do between 1,000 damage or 44,000 damage depending on what the attack was. Twelve hits is also a very random number.
Being picky about hits aside, Necro is perfectly viable in WvW. WvW means groups, it often means sieges, often large scale. If you’re managing to die quickly in these situations it’s nothing to do with your profession. It’s all about positioning and how you use your ninja rolls.
I think it’s fair to say you’re fairly new to PvP or quite casual, or maybe just PvP on this scale. Either way, joining a WvW guild that is willing to teach you should help. If you can’t find one, watch them. See how they are never just standing upfront taking damage.
It’s nothing to do with Light Armour or the profession, although the right build helps. If you want help with that you should post what sort of role you wish to fill or what play style you enjoy and we’ll help with that.
But mainly, your movement and positioning. Master that and you’ll be ten times more effective in group fights.
If the problem is 1 vs 1, then WvW is not the place for that. You’d be better off making a thread for that under Structured PvP (instanced PvP).

Go with a mark/wells build for keep/castle play. works really well spreading tons of conditions around and bleeding out people who are too dumb and sit knocking on your keep doors.
Example builds can be found in this post —→ http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/48590-ex-forces-necromancer-guide/
If I’m not going to be part of the main force I will usually spec deep into Minion Master and go capping either Sentry points of Supply points. You can do both of these things solo or duo. While you may not be rewarded or congratulated for your efforts, you will of made of difference overall.
Have fun,

You know that the Guardians are all supporting, right? They aren’t 4 shotting anyone and they’re mostly just being annoying and protecting allies, not getting kills.
Exactly the same playstyle that you seem to hate on Necromancer. So why are you jealous of them?
Thanks for all your replies people, sure a lot of information that I can use. Thank you very much again <3
I don’t have much experience with the necro but I play a condition build. I run epidemic as one of my utility skills which works nicely especially when attackers are massed at a door. I’ll lead by activating signet of spite, follow it with epidemic and it generally means that everybody at the gate will have a host of conditions on them. Granted that epidemic inflicts vulnerability on yourself but it’s easy enough to strip conditions as a necro. Again, I’m not yet lv 20 with my necro so I don’t know how well it will work at later levels but it’s been working great for me so far.
What I do in WvW:
- Death Magic/Blood Magic/Curses trait lines that focus on staff/well/survivability major traits.
- Gear for power (and precision secondary) plus a mix of vitality and toughness.
- Run around with Staff plus Axe or Scepter/Warhorn (secondary set is mostly just for utility speed/snare), Well of Power, Well of Corruption, Well of Blood, and one other utility skill.
In sieges (defense or offense) or, my favorite, fights at the entrance to resource camps, I find the middle of the enemy team and slow them (using some variety of chill or cripple), then dump all my marks and wells. Sometimes I can down a half-dozen people when I unload, and send many other diving out of the way and scrambling for defensive cooldowns. This is especially nice with WoC stripping nasty boons like Retaliation and Protection during my AoE burst.
Other than that… equip Warhorn and Spectral Walk so I can run towards/away from battles really quickly. :p
Epidemic+plague signet+that long bleed spell is quite strong. Epidemic is pretty much essential as a condition necro at the moment.
a well timed spectral walk so you run in the middle of the enemy zerg, unload your marks, wells and death shroud 4 and then teleport back out of their range is always fun.

Sadly this.

Quite true.
My necro is MM build. Send minions to front line and cast conditions. But it works well when a lot of ppl are at front line. I can get the kills. The problem is once some enemy noticed you or your group about to lose, run fast or your dead.

Necros are one of the best classes in WvWvW, regardless of their issues. We have extremely long range AOE, strong large AOE, incredible formation breakers and do better at large scale combat than small scale. Don’t use minions, that’s kind of dumb for large scale combat. Run abilities such as Plague Form, Epidemic, Corrosive Poison Cloud, Wells, etc.
What is killing you in 4 hits, besides siege?? And everyone here is saying go with a power build… I do amazing in WvW as a conditionmancer…. Epidemic does not need LoS so on walls I can stack my conditions fast as the run back I spread them. Allows me to control zergs not allowing them to push because of the constant pressure.
