Really don’t feel like getting to 500 artifice just to make an ascended staff. Any necros out there NOT using a staff? My other weapon is a GS, was thinking maybe Axe to get with it for some range and LF generation. What do you guys think?

I’m currently trying out axe/warhorn since I want to use GS as well, it’s just what staff does in zerg v zerg is incredibly useful for the utility, poke, and tagging a bunch of targets. That can’t be replaced by any of our other weapon sets at the moment, and while axe has some benefits in smaller skirmishes, the utility of staff is hard to pass up on.

Give it a try though, I’m still playing with it myself because I like axe regardless of how sub par it is.

Axe is decent with the 1v1, but scales terribly. : /

Unfortunately, staff is the best you’ve got if you’re running power and fighting more than 1 person. Very, very unfortunately.

Yea I’m going to stick with exotic staff until I find an ascended chest OR maybe go sinister armor with scepter. What you think of sinister reaper?

Sinister Reaper is a lot of fun, but you might go splat too easily in WvW

There isn’t a HUGE difference between exotic and ascended weapons, so don’t feel like you’re at an incredible disadvantage keeping what you have. : D

Staff is the only usable weapon in zerg situations. If you go closer than the edge of staff range you get devoured by the enemy zerg. :P

Just use an exotic one because the damage isn’t the point of it. It’s just to intimidate people with red circles and CC with chill and fear.
