Ascended weapons worth it?
Increasing your bleeding damage by 1 tick will still increase your effective DPS by around 15, and with how long fights take that amounts up over time.
But really, imo Ascended gear is more for Fractals. If you don’t do Fractals then its hardly necessary.
The increased weapon damage is more of what you are after on Ascended weapons. That will play a bigger part than the stats boost.
Does weapon damage affect your condition damage? If not it would seem better to get ascended weapons for power builds

In terms of stats…. I think most people are going for Ascended gear for the looks, and the prestige, rather than trying to keep on top stats-wise.

This is what you really want to look at is the weapon damage. For condi builds it doesn’t affect your condition damage.
No need to rush really and I am a min/maxer but I can hold off spending more gold than I need to if I just am patient.

I agree, I’m just saying that from a stats perspective it is still “worth it” in a way. Its just another grind in the game for people to pour money and time into when they have done everything else. But regardless of reasons, its the stats that have (till they added actual looks) that generally made people rationalize spending all that time getting it.

No, but higher weapon damage means more direct damage, which is always relevant.
It’s not just 4 extra condition damage… you can get 5 more with the infusion slot ^^
But yeah, mostly it’s going to be an improvement for powerbuilds, and a significant one at that. I’m playing hybrid and I’ll definitely upgrade my axe first.
Keep in mind though that even with a full on condi spec you’re going to use Shroud skills which are scaling with weapon dmg.
Most skills (practically all of them) have a direct damage component that goes along with the condition that they cause secondary. Now… you get way less in a condition build because you don’t have the power/crit damage (in rabid/dire) to support that direct damage component, but it still adds in something. I plan to test this quite a bit to find out the real difference to a condition user (say on scepter 1).
Increase is increase, next weapon-upgrade will be not soon. Btw you can wait new legendaries and focus them.

I’d be very interested in that comparison. I may finally bite the bullet and look at a power build, or at least a hybrid build since it looks like Anet is only making the disparity between conditions and power larger instead of smaller.
Malign Infusion 5 Condi Dam, 5 AReist.
Only costs 50 Phil Stones, 20 Mysic Coin, 250 Passion Fruit, 100 Pow Venom Sac.
Either 1 main 1 off, or 2 in a 2hander.
So that’d be +14 Condi dam for only a small fortune.

WvW infusions are cheap, but I guess you would have to get a defensive second stat… like vit or toughness
Oh yeh, there’s a Malign WvW Infusion +5 Condi, +1% Dam to Guards, Lords, and Supervisors
Only 5 Laural & 125 Badge of Honor
You can currently get a total of 6 infusions for an extra 30 condition dmg. Not too bad, but I suspect not nearly as good as +30 power is for power builds.
