(a skilled one btw 30r +, have beat tons of crappy bm rangers)

Has any one had good success in 1v1 sitiuations vs a BM Ranger. Ive tried condition and power builds and cannot seem to best one in a duel.

As a condition build my stacks of bleed get cleansed very fast, and terror fears don’t works because of there two anti cc traits. Usually don’t stand a chance.

Power builds(30/15/10/0/15, 30/0/10/0/30) I Stand a much better chance. Usually getting the ranger down to 25% health or so. Have beat a few in tourny 1v1s but they down me about the same time, and win the down v down fight usually.

So any advice?

Ranger beats most people down v. down. For necro you can’t beat a ranger unless A)they mess up or you trait for maximum ability in down state (+50% damage and bloodthirst).

If you go for maximum down state damage, then you will not down a BM ranger before you go down, so the point is moot. You need to exploit the AI stupidity as well as you can by using LoS. This helps minimize the passive damage that the Ranger is counting on. If you are running condi’s, then you need to bait and wait the clears (tricky against rangers). Don’t focus just the ranger with your attacks. Spread some damage to pet, while still applying enough to the ranger to force a clear. when you see him cleanse Epidemic the pet to reapply stacks quickly. Power necro is indeed a bit easier if you are good with a power necro, but imo it is harder to be good with power than condis. In the case of power, you just need to outsmart the pet and whittle him down with quick burst, feint, burst, etc.

It really isn’t an ideal matchup for necro, but it is one that can be won. Often it takes too long in a tourney setting, so one of you winds up winning by default when teammate(s) show up.

I’ve had some success against them when using minions, it depends on how good the ranger is at swapping pets (especially keeping them from getting downed, that 60 second recharge will kill you). Just like a lot of things, it is a skill matchup, and in most cases I just find that someone’s teammate shows up before the fight is over unless one of us screws up hard.

BM Rangers will near enough always beat necromancers(and most other classes) in 1v1 situations due to their condition removal, high damage from pet and fairly high condition damage themselves.

BM rangers are a nightmare… even worse then bunker scepter -50% chill duration elementalists. Thank god they fall short in team fights, otherwise we would be up to our necks in them. Elementalists are not as hard in 1v1s, but much harder in team fights…

You can resist them but… same skill level BM rangers are simply designed to counter a necromancer. I’ve just come to admit that BM rangers are my counter…

Ya, I got a apothecary built BM ranger and Necro’s really stand no chance and my main is a necro btw. I usually have more success against a BM ranger who runs berserker gear or anything other then a more bunkerish spec though and this coming from a conditionmancer necro. I feel as a conditon speced necro you have to close as much distance as possible you can’t let them kite you around or you’re going to be at a big disadvantage. So, spectral grasp is good and corrupt boon is nice if they use rampage as one. I also suggest switching between scepter and staff often using the right abilites when you need to and you should be at a better advantage.

I never had a whole lot of trouble with Necros with BM Bunker.
I can heal for a lot, I put out a stupid amount of conditions, and my burst is acceptable with the Bird.

Now if a Necro AJ’s my fight, I’m probably screwed.
