BOC: All Necro Update
Any feedback, thoughts, and suggestions would be appreciated. We will have a Q and A time in future podcasts. You can email us and we will read a few answers and cover them on Fridays.
I really liked this podcast!
Just a suggestion, upload the audio file on youtube, the new automatic caption will be helpful for some guys from another countries, like me, that don’t listen English very well.

I’m a new necro so the podcast was informative to listen to.
I listen to the first parts of the podcast. It is good but a bit long. I think it should be kept at 15 minutes each and focus on one specific aspect or topic. You can make 4 episodes in one weekend setting. But release them over 4 weeks.

Or you can just leave it running while doing something else *cough leveling alt or eating food* and enjoy, 15 minute versions pre topic or highlights could be a thing to upload on youtube (the specific part pre guest).

You can easily have one person talk for 15 minutes about a very small part of the game, it doesn’t fit well into a 2-3 person podcast unless you are incredibly concise, and the scope is very, very limited. To give an idea, I could easily talk for 15 minutes about Epidemic and all its uses.
We know they are on the long side, but the information is good to hear, even if you prefer to listen to it in small chunks. And we have no lack of content such that we would need to only release 15 minutes per week.

That was an idea we thought of, but the next thing I knew it was an hour into it. I am not skilled enough in my editing to break it down to 15 minutes. Plus with 5 people it’s tough. We may eventually break down the lower ones. If you look at The All-Necro Podcast it was 1:15minutes but I timestamped a list so you can skip to what you want.
I appreaciate the feedback, and it’s a good idea. Perhaps I can do a 20 minute short one and then someone can listen to the longer version if they want. To give you an example in the BoC podcast, we asked about Theives and the Necromancers, the answer took a good ten minutes. If we did only 15 minutes we could only cover one aspect of one specific function.
I am still trying to figure out a good way to do a short podcast. I may do a tip of the week, and make the tip a 15 minute podcast with a single player.
I’d like to hear what do you think guys but my level of spoken English is terrible and I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people like me so I have a suggestion!
Why not make a transcription too? If you have the time and want to do it, it would be pretty awesome and you will reach more people

This was suggested, and I am looking into finding a program that will do it, or using youtube to do it. If anyone knows of a good program let me know.
Because typing out a hour long podcast would take me 5 hours haha!
You will be able to find us on iTunes as well

As a temp solution they could just take written questions sent via email or something and read them off/answer them on-air. It’s not as interactive as actual conversation or live transcription of course, but it is a good stand-in for now.

Kinda long but interesting to hear some back and forth Necro talk.
I can’t believe no one liked Corrupt Boon in WvW, I love it. Then again I roam fairly often and its wonderful for 1v1s. Because most opponents pop their buffs at critical moments, and when you instantly corrupt them they are in even more trouble, and often start panicking or running.
BiP is 4 bleeds but if they get cleared all you get is the might. Someone mentioned BiP extending a 30 second bleed for great damage, but the increase to damage only lasts as long as the buff, as soon as the might drops so does your bleed damage.
I also found the talk of cleansing to be over emphasized. Last week a well timed Corrupt Boon helped the group I was in take down a very organized AoN roaming group, who love to pile buffs. Sure their next rotation might get rid of the debuffs, but if you have an equal sized force piling damage as soon as that corrupt hits, the lead target will be dead long before the next rotation. Wrecking spearheading Guardians, Ele’s or Thieves, often messes up an entire team’s plan. And reality is most groups are not that coordinated, maybe in tier 1 or 2 it would be a more consistent problem, but in T3/4 I find most groups don’t counter it quickly at all.
Also feel you guys let Anet off the hook a bit saying just don’t be alone if you are a Necro. Why not, certain professions shouldn’t have a built in advantage all the time for a specific situation. Especially not when Anet’s philosophy on the Necro read as them claiming that as an attrition class, Necro’s are very hard to escape. No we really aren’t that hard to escape from and this area should be shored up to help us counter-act those mobility classes. We should be the hard counter to their mobility, or at least be on 50/50 footing to stop them from getting away. Right now there aren’t enough tools for that, if they are competent at all. If we had one stun (other than golem knockdown, who is always dead in WvW) or immobilize beside on the melee dagger, it would go a long way toward helping their vision be true.
I tend to agree that a lot of belly aching about the Necro is overblown. But at the same time, we aren’t quite there yet. We need a few small minor tweaks (and still lots of bug fixes) to put us in an ideal place.

good idea with the podcast. Still feel necro is one of the most powerful and dynamic classes in the game… hence their abundance in tier1 WvW.

Pretty sure that its just that Epidemic (overall) and Golem Charge on gate are op as hell.

Well at the end of the day the problem with having a frank discussion about anything in WvW is, that you are accepting they are balancing around Spvp. Since 99% of our problems in WvW, don’t exist or effect Spvp, then you see where I am coming from. I have said numerous times we SHOULD be able to spec for some more mobility and some capability for roaming friendly ventures, but our skill set and traits do not really allow for this. I think this is a problem, but what happens to Spvp if you give necros that ability there?
Like our conversation on stealth and thieves. No problem in Spvp, because a point can’t be capped while your invisible (or defended). Horrible, horrible problem in WvW, where culling, LOS, buildings can all allow a quick escape and allow him to return with more people or for another round of ambush attacks scott free.
The question is, how do you give necros the ability to effectively lock people down in WvW, where you have an open field environment, while not making them hellishly overpowered at keeping people still in spvp, where there is hardly 1200 distance between one wall and another wall.
The BIP 10 might boost is a huge burst tool for someone running terror and bleeds if it is used at the right time. The power doesn’t come from the long bleed 2 bleeds or the medium duration other 2 bleeds, though they can help in some cases. While that 10 might is up, every new condition applied deals more damage. I personally have too many failures with corrupt boon to feel it reliable, and the cooldown is too long. If BIP misses, or I cast it on an IMMUNE target, I still get 10 might.
I still prefer conditions in WvW, and once day when they fix the issues with culling, I think everyone will be in a better place with using them again. The reality is, most WvW battles are not coordinate groups of 20-30-40, but when they are, aoe burst is the name of the game. And unfortunately, unless they drastically change the way WvW works, that will continue to be the tactic of choice.
