I wasn’t able to play GW2 for about 8 months but now I am back. Naturally I went straight to the Necro forums to see how my favorite profession is doing and the first thing I noticed is that the very long bug thread is gone and it also doesn’t seem to be in the bugs subforum.

Does that mean that our favorite profession got fixed or did they just decide to ignore us?

The class is still good in WvW, but none of our bugs seem to get fixed…

Threads are being deleted – it’s just the way it is with this company.

Luckily a new upcoming MMO is going to be released, perhaps that company does listen, time will tell.

If you talk about Wildstar, mind you it has the same publisher as GW2, NCSoft.

Actually im not talking about Wildstar at all
The game im talking about seems to have an extremely strong core of world vs world vs world, or shall I say “faction vs faction vs faction”, not gonna say it will be better, but if the devs are more open and forthcoming, as well as being on the drop with balancing, keeping “everyone” balanced, it might work.

believe he means TESO , and i can tell you its looking good so far from what ive seen in beta (yes NDA has been lifted in case your wondering). before last beta (which was focused just on stress testing the server(s) ) there was a MASSIVE improvement to the game between 1 beta testing phase (were talking like a weekend test phase , 1 each month more or less) i have high hopes for it myself , it all seems promising from personal experience.

Well Joxer, this boils down to personal taste.
When i first seen videos from TESO i was like yaaaaay alpha footage! And i realized from the article that is close to release actually … so i avoid it like plague. It’s just a really low budget, low quality Skyrim multi. With a sub …D So thanks, but no.

Yes the idea of subscription games is really a turn off for people that don’t want to feel obligated to devote time to a game… that was always my beef with WoW. I also hate the feeling of asking myself if I am getting my money’s worth when they release new content if it is good or not good..

At least with this game when the content is bad, I can at least claim I got my money’s worth.

the issue Renno , most “free” to play games dont end up being “free” as alot of companies end up forcing you to buy stuff if you want to play the full game , most people dislike Sub models because either A) they cant afford it (in which case buying games in general shouldnt be on your to do list) or just want to be cheap , where as its rarely that its about the amount of content you “feel” like your getting your moneys worth so much as you cant afford it / just feel like being cheap and want to bring game quality down to price gating (sorta how xbox live puts everything behind the subscription gate to even access stuff you already have a sub going for like Netflix) so please dont waste time trying to say its about “feeling obligated” to whatever , it never really is and its just a sob story people want others to buy into.

i daresay Renno look at this game for regards of “quality” for not having a sub base , the devs completely ignore the necros in regards to bugs / complete inbalance compared to the rest of the classes , but since your not paying a sub fee they have no fear of losing money , you bought the game and have to “deal with it” id rather have a sub fee where atleast they would listen in regards that you can speak (with your wallet) and get them to actually listen rather then close down any forum complaints (that are clean and not threatening / nerd rage filled) about bugs and class imbalance.

Wildstar will need a sub as well as far as I know

They just bugged minions again in one of the recent updates — they frequently stand around doing nothing again (not sure which update exactly, I’ve already switched to guardian).

I don’t care about to play Wildstar, mainly because of NCSoft. But it looks decent, it worth the attention after release.

Some of you seem pretty delusional when it comes to balance and bugs.

Wildstar will need a sub, but you can purchase your sub from other players with in-game gold if they buy extra subs to sell in-game.

TESO looks like a game I’ll be treating like a single-player/friend co-op. If I had to guess, run-back times and a complete lack of feedback (hitting players and being hit) in PvP are going to be insanely irritating and potentially insurmountable from a frustration perspective.

But we’ll see. I try almost every AAA MMO that has a hook of any kind, so I’ll be getting both if I had to guess what I’ll be doing in the future. The overall feel of combat in GW2, combined with not having to worry about gear treadmills in PvP and being able to log in/out freely because of no sub is going to be extremely difficult to top for me.

I’m not looking for that perfect game that people seem to always be gazing towards the horizon for (note: this isn’t the first game’s forums that has mentioned how an MMO down the road will really cause turmoil in the genre’s industry in hopes that it’ll save them from whatever grievance they hold against their current MMO of choice).

I’d really like to see ANet release another Trial period for the game so I can get a few friends to test it out. A stand-alone sPvP option would be interesting as well, but I don’t foresee that happening, really.

The odd thing from my perspective, is that the cost of the sub isn’t the issue, but the principle of paying for that continuous content. I think GW2 does exceedingly well for a no sub model. Not as good as LoL for instance, but still quite good.

In other sub models, I have felt like even while voting with my wallet, I couldn’t make much of an impact because 5 million other people were voting too. WoW had some huge stagnant periods where I questioned why I would continue to pay 15 dollars a month, but I still did because the game overall was worth it, but NOT the new content. Also it had little good competition at the time.

Anyhow, the point being at least in the case of Wildstar, a sub model that allows you to grind out, so to speak, your sub fee in game is the best of both worlds. They get the money for the sub fee from someone comfotable with spending more on the game a month than the average person, and cheap people like me don’t feel obligated to buy anything.

It is unfortunate that the one thing most of us want from this game has nothing to do with new content, and extreme resource loads from a development team. I would be perfectly happy with a game development path that ignored living story and focused on adding skills, balance, and depth to the existing game. Introducing new pvp modes, expanding the scope of what WvW does, without adding a bunch of maps and meaningless objectives. The massive resources that Anet spends on the PVE side of the game never seem to get replicated on the PvP side of things.
