So, simple, easy, straightforward……..or is it?

Which is the BEST armour for a Necromancer?

For me it would be either Cof in combination with Karma oldgate and Named sets (http://postimage.org/image/6mxs7aghh/full/) or Orr+AC+Crafted.
If you wanna go Stripper then TA + Winged + Human cultural seems to have less on than without any armor.

Human = Silvari = Asura > Norn >> Charr

Humans, silvaris and asuras have clothes that look good on them. Asuras can be pretty wicked. Clothes look ridiculous on charrs.

I must object;
Charr make anything kitten, even if they look like demented EVA units or kittenz, Norn are a bit to clumsy looking for a necro, Asura just aint made for necromancy.

We’re talking stats, it honestly depends on what kind of build you’re running. There really aren’t that many ‘glassy’ builds for Necros, because we lack burst. Though I’ve never tried it personally, if somebody wants to chime on it, but I think the current ‘high crit build’ looks something like 20/20/0/0/30 making use of DS for the most part. Which would make best use out of Zerker gear.

Personally when I run a powerbuild it’s for tanky-ness with some decent hitting strength. So my power build currently has P/T/V armor with Zerker trinkets (I’ve heard good things of using Knights instead of Zerkers though so definitely something to look into).

Otherwise, Condition builds will be using Carrion armor sets/trinkets to maximize the tick damage. Necros have a LOT of means of extending bleed condition duration so you should be able to focus entirely on the damage output in a condition build.

Isnt staple Zerk necro 30/30/0/0/10 or 30/10/20/0/10 depending on skill setup?

Agree. Arah is the coolest for necro. Period.

Each to their own. Being able to dye the red fire motif’s would be awesome, but I’m not holding my breath for it.

And for some reason, the Arah set just doesn’t jive with me. I dunno… I find it bland. I like the ragged and tattered aesthetic of the CoF chest/legs. This in addition with the effect given to the entire arm of the Player (though usually hidden by the gloves) is pretty nice. Overall I enjoy it, and I think my necro looks like a boss.

The best part is of course I can set up my armor to look however I like and you can do the same. Player Customization ftw

If you mean armor stats, you can do pretty well with a variety of different armor. Different armor “types” (stat types) offer boosts in specific areas. Dulfy.com has a very nice guide of end-game armor so you can see what sets/names support which stats and where to find them. Maxing out on one particular stat can also cause trouble. Very high toughness, for example, can make you a prime target for bosses in dungeons while too low a stat can crimp your play. To counter some of that, you can do like the temple armors and mix various stats for a blended set. Blended stat sets work remarkably well, imho. When I acquired my HotW set, I ended up blending Rabid and Magi stat sets and it runs pretty solid; maybe not maxed out but not glassy or lame, either.

If you mean best armor looks, though, try gw2armor for pictures. Personally, I find many of the exotic armors are a bit over-the-top so I skin them using fine transmutation stones. For example, I put Tactical karma armor over a rabid set of temple armor, Embroidered and Cabalist over a couple of crafted Exalted sets, and Devout over Kahlkora’s (Seer’s). Find a look you like, even if mixing armor, and make it how you want.

I feel pretty meh about light armor skins, especially the head slot. While I don’t think I have “the best” look, given what we have to work with I am happy enough with this:

I have CoE chest and legs with the starter ghostly mask and shadow armour gloves and boots. Really happy with the look especially while holding the crossing or my axe with Adam.

Yeah, I’m with Fraeg on the Whispers light armor – looks pretty kitten.

Being as I’m a Necro and carry multiple sets for given situations, I also have the Gendarran Fields Karma set (the one with the deer skull mask) and I plan on getting the Arah set for my condition armor.

Other than those, I don’t think the other options are very Necro-y…

The Winged headpiece is pretty cool though. Too bad the rest of that set bites the big one.

I use the named exotic skin. I feel necromancers shouldn’t look like they are evil or undead of whatever. They are just very good spellcasters and not undead themselves and in a lot of cases very rich and powerful, hence my fancy looking armor.

Yes! At launch I considered something similar, gearing my Necro in purps and pinks and then equipping the Bifrost so that people double take when I start using necro skillz. Unfortunately Legendaries are too much work for a cheap gag. :/

Yeah. Plus I mainly use scepter/dagger and Meteorlogicus looks awful. I had a hard time finding a scepter that didn’t look way too top-heavy to swing, and finally settled on the Lionguard one.

Obviously Arah, but dry bones and sylvari tier 2 cultural work pretty well for a sexy female necro.

Arah, all the way! Can’t wait to get the full set for my Asura necro. The only thing I don’t like about it is the hood, wish it was just the mask.

Now if only we could reskin with a risen costume. I remember a heart mission where I was transformed into a risen Asura, for a necro it looked awesome!

Using the Dry Bones shoulders and Acolyte chest/pants right now with the Bone Mask that you start the game with. Have it colored with graphite, fog, and scarlet.. looks pretty good until I get my Arah finished.

So far I am the only one I have seen wearing the orr gear that matches Tactical. I love it. When I decide to show my helm, its the Shadow helm( I think). It looks great with Final Rest. I alos use the godskull skins.

I would have to say arah looks best, with dry bones coming second, both holding the necro theme well. Personally i found it difficult to find the right dye color for the skin looking part of the arah armor, as it behaves differently from the rest.

Personally I think the Arah set is overdone….but maybe it is just because it gives feathers on females….here is my creeptacular Necro…she often gets complimented on how out of place she looks vs. all the “sexy” humans around.

Yea bored of seeing almost every necro in LA wearing arah sets. Ive got a condition set from arah but i never wear it. Ill grab some screenies later of all my armour sets. :>

You could get the tactical shoulders from a karma vendor in straits of devastation. Its basically just a skull on one shoulder. So would go quite well with your look.

I like it! Good use of SE shoulders, that armor set doesn’t see nearly enough love in my opinion.

And yeah I agree on the Arah thing. Honestly, I’m not fond of it personally. I find the shoulders are way too bulky for my tastes, and the hood is complete meh. Kind of glad I didn’t post my Condition armor gear though. I don’t think the guys on this board would appreciate the amount of fabulous that it possesses.
