Q:
I am starting to run explorable dungeons, daily. Currently I am using wells and marks build – problem is that it aggros too many mobs towards me and I get killed within 2-3 seconds (when well of blood is in cool-down).
What build I should I use to be accepted in a party?
Edit: Tried some of the suggested condition builds; feels more squishy then my current toughness/vit well build.

Unfortunately as it currently stands, people have started going the way of “LFXM need guardian, warrior, thief or anything besides Rangers and Necromancers.” I believe that it’s all the result of abolishing the holy trinity and forcing every class to fight with each other for viability.
So in short to answer: Don’t be a necromancer. And your signature pretty much captures that whole thing in essence. “Anything a Necro can do, other classes can do better”
Ignore the previous two posters they are clearly idiots,
If you insist on speccing/gearing incorrectly then yes you will suck at dps, same with tank and support – its not the case that necros suck it’s that 66% of this community insist on just complaining until they can WTF OP dps. Unlike your standard warrior/guardian It requires players to think more carefully about their class…. clearly that’s beyond most the capabilities of members of this community
Instead of linking you the builds how about you use that handy in-built search function
Standard dungeon condition specs include
20/30/20/0/0, 30/30/10/0/0, 10/30/20/0/10 in fact just search my previous posts
Also in future don’t respond to question posts with negative opinion that doesn’t help anyone

I hear this “LF1M (NOT NECROMANCER)” stuff on the forums all the time, but it seems to never happen to me in game. Terrible players are terrible players, and that doesn’t depend on class.
For Direct Damage, necro is going to pale in comparison to a warrior or thief, no argument there. If a group is running a condition mesmer, a condition thief, a guardian, and a condition ranger, chances are they are not going to want a necro… but they wouldn’t want anything else that causes conditions either.
Epedemic makes taking a necro in dugeons worth it for that alone. Aside from all the utility of being able to offtank, interrupt, etc.
The biggest problem in my opinion is the bleed cap and the bleed duration cap. If they raised the bleed cap to 40-50, and let durations stack over 100%, we would be much better off in team situations where there are already condition causing other classes.
EDIT: And i run 20/30/10/10/0 because I love dodge roll marks in combination with infeebling on death shroud. It should also go without saying I am implying you run a condition build, because well, thats just what necros do best.

I use staff necro with vit, toughness and power build and i’m always the last top die even the freaking guard goes down faster than me. And i can say my dps prob outshine them too. You have to know how to spec and play your necro to be effective.

^So true.
Been running this setup for a while.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNAn9YjMah6pbub8bKApCWPVoboH5ibtRKKeYA;ToAKhMCJEyWkTIZRLDGXsBZCC
Cold Embrace
Weapon: Axe & Focus / Offhand Dagger
Runes: 4x Ice, 2x Lyssa
Consumables: Master Maintenance Oil & Rare Veggie Pizza.
Primary Purpose:
Chilled spread via Epidemic against a group of enemies.
+100% Chilled Duration.
+80% Other Condition Duration.
I run it with a mixture of Soldier/Berserkers. Transfusion and Blood is Power can be swapped for something else if desired.
The best part of chilled is it isn’t affected by Defiant, which lets you, if necessary, kite mobs around, or at the very least control them much better than with cripple which has it’s duration decreased severely.
I’ve trioed AC with my buddy on warrior (GS) and another guilds warrior (sword/axe) with this setup for what it is worth.
Yes, but you loose 40% duration without the food buff. You can skip the Oils if you want, but I wouldn’t skip the pizza.
My only role in dungeons with my friends is to just apply blind on things, and I have the trait that also apply chill when I blind. So yeah… plague form 2 2 2 2 2!!!
most of these posts are minimally constructive and serious towards answering your question.
for dungeons, a good way to spec is Cond/Tough/Prec if you’re not planning on being an offtank Power build.
if you are a power build, go Power/Tough/Vit gear with Carrion trinks and play as a high vit, high armor Daggermancer not only do you avoid bleed caps, but you have consistent graytyped damage from an autoattack, giving free choice for utilities.

this is really wrong.
My guild asks for me to run dungeons with themm all the time because i can do the job like a Warrior/Guardian lovechild with Control Wells and Deathshroud mitigations.
I play on Borlis, and group in Overflow for Fractals all the time; never have any issues. I wouldn’t even agree about your statement about other classes. A bad mesmer does almost no damage at all, engineer you mentioned, Guardian, can all be played awful and lend nothing to the group. Try not to compare everything to the favored Warrior/Thief classes that will out-do everyone else with a few key strokes. That is a different problem.
I do use great marks, but mainly because landing marks in PVP is hard with latency issues, and quite frankly its just better to have bigger marks. To your question about my kill rate on a mob in a dungeon, if we are not at the bleed cap, I deal more damage than a thief or warrior on any mob with a substantial HP pool. Trash mobs are trash mobs, and they will always go down before you can get much accomplished conditions wise.
here’s a kitten build of mine i played long ago.

look at 1:42.
and tell me you wouldn’t want that with you in a dungeon.
So far everyone I’ve run dungeons with has loved my combo fields, the aoe protection i give, the aoe regen I give, the condition control I can give when needed via condition removal well and/or plague signet, the mass aoe blind cc from well of darkness and plague, vulnerability stacking on mobs etc etc etc. Can’t say as I have ever had a complaint from anyone I’ve done a dungeon run with as a Necro.
The build I am currently working with and enjoying quite a bit actually is: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mVVzMm9cmMGxomMGxoa0pGfoMmcRo08khy7kiH70z
I’ve recently switched to a nearly full Power/Vit/Toughness gear setup for this build with Power/Precision/Toughness Emerald Jewelry and Crest of the Soldier on all armor/jewelry. Build is a little bit of a spinoff from the one discussed in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Update-28k-HP-3k-Armor-3-4k-Attack-Necro. I however switched a few talents and use axe/focus instead of daggers for a lot more vulnerability stacking. Keeping high stacks of vulnerability not only increases your own damage but the damage of your entire group and has actually made our already fast dungeon runs even faster yet.
In addition to vulnerability you bring 2 sources of regen for your group, and aoe protection from your wells not to mention whatever needed support from the particular well being used atm. I always try to keep suffering in there but switch the other 2 utilities as the situation demands such as switching well of darkness to plague signet in condition heavy fights/dungeons such as TA.
As it stands atm I am using all Power/Toughness/Vitality armor bought with karma from the temples in Orr except for legs which dont have this stat setup anywhere for some reason. You can buy a rare 80 pair of legs with this setup for a small amount of karma from the wvw armor vendors but I crafted the exotic knights exalted pants myself. Crest of the Soldier currently on all armor pieces.
For Jewelry I have my Ancient Karka Shell but I am in the process of switching all of jewelry to lvl80 exotic crafted emerald jewelry. Only my ring and amulet are emerald so far while the other ring and earring are chryso pieces from my previous build. My backpiece is still the Mad Kings Memories book sadly until I can craft an ascended backpiece. Crest of the Soldier on all my jewelry.
My weapons atm are all only rare lvl80 power/toughness/vitality weapons bought with karma from the ebon vanguard in Ebonhawke until I can get 80 exotic versions from dungeon runs or wvw. May also just got ahead and use crafted Knights weapons instead though. For sigils I use Peril for increased vulnerability duration and bloodlust for stacking up more power.
Also worth noting is that Power/Toughness/Vitality gear can be obtained for all armor and weapon slots from AC, SE, HotW, WvW, and Order of the Vigil vendors for the proper type of currency. Jewelry is also included with the WvW vendor and some weapons can be made in the Mystic Forge with the setup. Emerald Pendant is also excellent for this build if you can manage to craft it.
With all of the above in mind my unbuffed states currently look like this:
HP: 25,922
Armor: 2,777
Crit: 15%
Attack: 2,891
Vit: 1,671
Toughness: 1,857
Precision: 1,144
Power: 2,036
For food atm I have been using Mango Pies as they are incredibly cheap to make but still pretty useful. On top of that use Master Maintenance Oils which work great for this build. The oils convert a % of your toughness and vitality both into power which is great obviously since this is a high tough/vit setup.
I believe that it’s all the result of abolishing the holy trinity and forcing every class to fight with each other for viability.
Ridiculous revisionism. WoW had this kind of competition among various categories as well: you’d hear some healers whining “why bring a healer when a hybrid (Druid) can do everything we can and can do it better?”. Or between DPS classes? Etc.
This has everything to do with class balance. And whining in forums like this, which eventually makes it into guides and popular lore, and then in LFG messages.
Just like the myth that Necro’s are the buggiest class in GW2. I saw it so many times here that I started repeating it myself… Until I looked again at my Elementalist and Thief, and, … basically those classes have terrible bugs as well. (And for every two Elementalist bugs that were (mostly) fixed in the latest patch, another one was broken.)
Or how about the “Depending on conditions sucks, since other classes can do that too, and because of the 25 cap, your damage goes through the floor.”? No mention of how that might also hurt the OTHER class, just that somehow the Necro suffers.
I’m not saying “L2P”, or that everything is roses, but this constant, ill-informed whining is probably the major contributor to people avoiding Necros — if they actually are.
After rolling a thief, checking out its traits, utilities, gear options, and playstyle… necro really does have it well off in terms of stability.
imo, it’s hard to kitten up a necro unless you’re trying to be a MM.
Not many classes have that designed security.
