I have a Power Neco and wondering which Elite to use?
I was thinking Lich form but the abilities seem more orientated for cond builds…

No, your spot on. Lich form, as a power necro, is imo one of the most OP things you can do. The crits are pretty insane and the minions you can summon hit like a truck. Trust me, stick with Lich. =)

Lich hits like a beast in a power setup (you also gain a lot of crit when you transform) Normally you don’t even need to bother with anything except spamming #1 on your target.

However like any transform skill, you lose access to all you utilities/DS (and lose minions if you had any), which can be subpar depending on the situation.

I roam a lot in WvW and I prefer Golem for it’s situational knockdown and get-away option.

It depends on what you are doing? In WvW i find Lich form to be more of a huge sign saying here I am run away from me, or if there is a larger force, they will burst you down quick. I use plague in WvW coupled with chilling darkness and spam blinds/chill and let team mates push with you. Alot of enemies will stay away from you in plague form; allowing your team to gain the upper hand on positioning. It is less rewarding damage wise but much more helpful in WvW in “most” situations. Lich can give great dmg burst for sure, and has its uses in WvW as well, but its all about preference/playstyle and group composition.

I use Lich form in pve/dungeons often.

Lich Form for Damage, Flesh Golem for never having to change playstyle, and it’s easy to use.

Your best dps output would be to just spam #1 as much as possible. Use #2,3, and 5 as needed.

I would suggest Lich form in almost every situation. Plague form has some very situational uses in a power build, if you happen to be in a situation where allies desperately need AoE control (blinds) then its good. And flesh golem is good in situations where popping lich would make no sense (non-dungeon PvE, there is no point to pop lich for 3 level 80 mobs).

Otherwise, Lich can do insane amounts of damage on its own, if you are fast you can get the 8vuln stacks down 3 times, plus minions to annoy people and a big AoE boon/condition stripper.

Before u decide u should know what stats each elite increase.
I took the following values from heart of the mists but i assume they are the same in PvE and WvW.

Lich Form:
+1832 power (2×916)
+916 precision (43% crit chance)
+916 viatality (9160 health)

Plague Form:
+916 power
+2748 toughness (3×916)
+1832 vitality (18320 health) (2×916)
*plague offers no increase in Condition Damage

In other words LIch for offence and Plague for defence.

Also u should know that even in condtion builds plague doesnt do much dmg., while lich with the huge increase in power and precision could probably be a viable option.

Even condition builds don’t use Plague for damage. They use it to become an unkillable ball of fun for 20 seconds.

Lich form auto-attack is the highest damage auto-attack in the game. It’s so high, in fact, that ANet capped its damage -.-

It’s understandable why, though. In PvP, Lich Form on a power necro was practically an auto-win.

Lich Form all the way. It’s very fun in WvW as well, however, like others have pointed out – you either get focused because you’re now this huge guy, or people run away from you.

It’s actually pretty awesome to have a group of 30 people run in terror of the lich though, I’ve seen it happen a few times.

The other only downside to Lich in WvW is the projectile speed – it’s similar to Staff’s therefor it is very easily dodge able.

I love 1v1ing someone who tries to cheese burst me. Evade once pop lich form and watch them die in 4-7 shots. :p

Blind plague is nice for some of the stickier trash pulls if your group isn’t so hot, like the wolf pack in HotW P1/3 and the 5 82’s right before you go swimming in 3.

I use Plague Form on my power necro. Lich Form does do insane damage but I prefer more utility rather than raw damage in my playstyle. Plague Form lets me get off stomps in a zerg vs. zerg situation and get out safely and is great against trash in dungeons. I’ve never really felt like I needed the extra damage from Lich.

lich form doesn’t deal condition damage outside of the jagged horrors, so you’re completely wrong there. It is most definitely a power build elite.

I have never tried stomping in plague form. Does this work without having to press stomp button and elite button at the same time? If so, plague form is amazing. Ill have to test this out in WvW tonite.

You can transform into Plague Form without breaking the stomp animation. So start the stomp first, then use Plague Form at any time.
