Hi Tyrians!

Looks like the “Blood Magic” Specialization will become a good choice in PvE when the Patch goes live considering Curses gives so little to Power Specced players.
However, in my opinion, it has a poor trait placement that holds it back from beeing a REALLY GREAT Spec. Why? Because the best Traits for PvE are fighting each other in the same tiers (Banshe’s Wail & Vampiric Presence to give you an example).

My suggested Trait placement is:

Minors:
Blood Bond
Vampiric
Vampiric Presence

Adept:
Mark of Evasion
Ritual of Life
Quickning Thirst

Master:
Life from Death
Banshe’s Wail
Last Rites

Grandmaster:
Vampiric Rituals
Unholy Martir
Transfusion

First of all, curses is going to be great for anybody with precision (eg zerkers).

Second, the jury’s out on the new blood line. So much depends on what the healing values are, and on which traits will heal you in Death shroud (all of them should heal you, not all of them will heal you).

If the whole line still heals less than food, you can ignore it for another 3 years.

What about totally removing Banshee’s wail (as it is mostly just a boring cooldown trait) and instead making locust swarm a spectral effect?

Spectrals are too strong already. Banshee’s wail is good and interesting as is.

On topic, I like this new placement far better. Doesn’t lock us into mark of evasion, doesn’t force us to choose between banshee’s wail and vamp presence, and is pretty much just better all around.

Only thing i would suggest you change is keep last rites the last minor, and bump blood bond into where you have last rites placed currently. It’s dependent on bleed stacking and won’t function at all in some builds. last rites is much more general and more on theme for the line as a minor.

First of all, curses is going to be great for anybody with precision (eg zerkers).

I respectfully disagree.
The reason why people took Curses with Zerker Gear was the Precision it granted and the strong damage modifier “Target the Weak”. But those are changed now…the incentive is not that great anymore.

But i could be wrong…

If it was a spectral effect, the skill need not be changed to be like spectral walk and armor (lich wasn’t), but you would get a duration and cooldown buff. Instead of Banshee;s wail, you would get half of banshee’s wail by taking the spectral trait.

Mhh i kinda like the trait placement for bloodmagic that Anet gave us, so i guess i have to disagree with you.

But that is my personal opinion so no arguments here…

But what is the point of this this change? It is sort of similar at best. All this would do is nerf wail of doom and half of locust. It does nothing new for warhorn and only makes spectral even better when they’re already top of the heap.
