BoC Update: Skyro Explains Death Shroud
If you are looking for a better understanding of Death Shroud, check this podcast out. Skyro did a fantastic job explaining some of the strengths it faced.
you should have more skyro in your podcasts… he is pretty entertaining lol
Most interesting part is when you talk about the traits.
And a homing necrotic grasp would be nice. Allthough the one drawback with a non piercing projectile is an even lower lf regeneration for condition builds. Maybe it could be standard as it is but homing as a trait, like replace jagged horror :P

Necrotic Grasp technically is a homing projectile, problem is its turn rate is as good as its speed… (if enemy moves a mark distance away to the left or right when the projectile just started it will make a small turn to them).
Wow! I think I learned more about the class in that hour than in a couple of months of forum crawling. Thanks!
Very informative. Especially the stuff about tournaments. Sadly, I already knew all the Death Shroud stuff that was talked about. I was hoping to learn some new stupid necro trick.
Regarding Corrupt Boon. My guild has an intern who works at ANet that does WvW with us a lot. He plays a necromancer. He has told us that the reason Corrupt Boon (and now Epidemic) its so difficult to land is because it fires an extremely fast, but invisible projectile towards your target in a straight path to determine if the skill works. This projectile will only fire if you’re facing your target within a 30 degree cone. Because its a projectile, it suffers from the same problems that projectiles in general face. The random obstruct bug (which you won’t see because this projectile doesn’t report back any data to your client), your target suddenly stopping if he is moving at a non parallel trajectory while the projectile is in route, the target moving out of projectile range at the last second, your target moving outside of the 30 degree cone right before you use the skill (causes the skill to fail and go on a 5 second cool down), or any other issue that would some how prevent the projectile from reaching its target.

Does this mean you can reflect Corrupt Boon? O.o

Tech seen yes, i managed to reflect a Epidemic with Echo when leveling my mesmer in WvWvW (and was amazed with instant 4 badges under my feet), problems are a) corrupt boon has no cast time b) both are invis and utility cast animations for necro are generic with no special feature and for now i havent seen the feedback bubble reflect any of them thus i dont think it has any special effects on Spvp.

It never occurred to me at the time to ask. Can’t say that I’ve ever noticed. Its not like necromancers have that many boons they can apply to themselves that we would notice missing in the middle of a fight. This makes me wonder if things like Smoke Screen and Guardian walls/bubbles can block the projectile. This should be tested.

Wow, you could really use epidemic as a mesmer? Are you sure that it wasn’t a necro on your team that could have done it and you got those badges by yourself?
I always thought that the currupt “projectile” had certain properties that a usual one doesn’t. Like dark path could teleport you to a different target if that one intercepted the flying hand by standing in the way. Could this happen to corrupt boon too?
great job as always, keep this going
In this week’s But of Corpse Necromancer Podcast, your hosts Bhawb and Bas sit down and talk with Skyro. Skyro was brought in to talk tournaments and Death Shroud. Throughout the podcast Skyro lectured and encouraged about the proper use of Death Shroud, and even taught our hosts a few things about the class.
After the podcast was over, we asked Skyro if he would be interested in doing a BOC Presents: Death Shroud Tutorial. He agreed, and we are working on putting something together for all of our followers.

So I’ve been listening to your podcast. And let me just start out by saying Thank You!! Thank you for all your work and great information you provide us Necro users. I’ve been playing a Necro since GW2 launch back in August. I’ve always picked a battle Mage or Necro type class in other games. Even before the game came out my friends already knew that I was going to pick this class.
Since launch, the Necro has been my main. I do have two other alts that I rarely play only because I enjoy the Necro game style to much. But I will admit that there was a dark cloud over my Necro life for a period. I don’t venture into the forums to much but when I kept dying in WvW and getting frustrated with other classes mobility. I would scourer the forum looking to see what others were doing and seeing if maybe I was doing something wrong. What I found was similar complaints and I soon started to agree with others that maybe my class was broken. But I didn’t want to give up hope on my Necro class. I soon then discovered Nemesis youtube tutorials and he reignited my fondness of the class again. Help me to rethink what the Necro can do. And now with your guys podcast, you’ve help me rethink the game as a whole and made me realize all of my available option as a Necro. And now the forums are full of help information and interesting debates. You’ve guys have done a great service to the Necro Community and I just wanted to thank you and keep up the great work. I look forward to hearing all your future episodes.

In WvW any roaming necro would die a lot. They do not have the means to disengage from a fight. So as a necro you should stay with your zerg. ^^

I would think that’s because everyone that isn’t a D/D Ele dies a lot.

It is a one off (since you can only echo once after mimic) and yes i am sure since i wasnt in a party, didnt have any aoes at the time that do any damage (and doubt that scepter clones could tag that many people since they blow up in a milisecond while in a zerg), also the damage numbers popping up and being visible on my screen like a rain of white.
Unlike most projectile reflections Mimic into Echo actually stores the projectile and then lets you “cast” it so no i dont know if you can actually reflect Corrupt boon or Epidemic, but i know that if you manage to hit a mesmer thats curled up in a ball, he might Epidemic or Corrupt boon you back.
Finally got to listen to the whole thing. I think you should stay in DS is for the mount of LF that you can regen in 10 seconds. And then you times that by two.
For example let’s say your build is heavily LF regenerating and you can confident you can regain 30% of the LF in 10 seconds. 30% times 2 is 60%. So you should stay in DS until your total LF reaches 40%.
If your build is weak in LF regeneration and you can only regen maybe 10% over 10 seconds, then you should stay in DS only until your total LF reaches 80%.
The plan is to slowly wear down the enemy, though your LF regen and health regen.
Of course, this only applies if your character can survive for 10 seconds without DS. If you are a glass cannon you will need to use DS longer, probably until it reaches zero. You cannot play that attrition game.
I won’t bother waiting for that 1.99 sec timer thing. That requires you to keep an eye out on your LF bar constantly. Your attention is better used elsewhere, specially in wvw with so much going on.

Unless you are eating a burst, you should never stick around in DS past the 50% point, DPS drop isnt worth it.
