Talentless takes some time to join us from some awesome WvWvW in tier 1. Bhawb and Bas try to get him to reveal the secrets to tier 1 WvWvWvW, but he doesn’t buckle. Instead we get treated to some great explanations of Necro tools and advantages of running hybrid builds and different ways to build your necro.
We had a great conversations, and hopefully we helped each of you learn a little more about the Necro and how it fits in team play.

I’ve been looking for some people who make regular content regarding the Necro and stumbled upon your podcast today. I just listened to your #3, gonna go back and listen to the first 2 episodes now. I’m enjoying it, thanks!

1) Minions are weak in wvw – agreed. Dies way too fast to be even marginally useful, no matter if you spec into it or not.

2) Spectral Wall is weak in wvw – agreed. In theory a very organized friendly zerg can all walk though it and get buffed, and a very dumb enemy zerg will all run though it and get vulnerability. In reality though it is hard to pull off.

3) Condition durations are not meant to last 100% – agreed. When you design your build for wvw, expect your conditions to only be 50% effective (either due to removals, or 25 bleed cap). You should be doing something else on the side. Do not be a pure conditionmancer in wvw.

4) All signets are useless – agreed. Recharge way too long. Doesn’t even matter pve, dungeons, spvp, wvw.

5) Well sucks – disagree. Yes for havoc squad maybe they suck. But in zerg vs zerg they are a beast.

Got these mixed up.

I like Spectral Wall for my groups roaming, and I dont think Wells suck, Well of Darkness is often my changeable 3rd utility, but being a “wellmancer” in a roaming group is not as effective. Point of the conversation is to emphasize that Necro can be 1 of 50 million things and effectiveness of builds depends on your goals, playstyle, etc.

Your guest makes a good point about how the necro’s utilities let them spread around a ton of disabling conditions even when they’re not specced into condition damage. I should switch to a power spec for wvw too I think…

It was, but as you heard, I was WvWing during the interview and it was what I was seeing at the time and day before… BG does camp kitten for no reason a lot though

It’s so your 10 person squad can’t take towers (which is now trivial to do without popping orange swords). :P

I went out to WvW this afternoon to record how a necro playstyle should be with my build. Not an kitten contest, and the fights/video aren’t special or “l33t”…. purpose is to emphasis how one should play this class to kill and escape.

Lol at the music choice. But it’s a really good Necro WvW video. You really have to be aware of your positioning and knowing when to run.

Why the kittens cant I get fights like that when I find JQ and BG guys roaming. As soon as I try to attack someone there are a gazillion people jumping out of the bushes to kill me.

the only editing was to remove such things… although even this video I had to leave many alive because of zerg inc

20 – Terror, Spectral Attunment
0 –
15 – Bloodthirst
20 – Spectral Mastery, Unyielding blast

Not sure If I personally would put 15 into Spite since im not sure how much the minor trait really helps.. or if your just trying to gain the extra power and condi duration, maybe put 10 for Talisman and bring Blood Magic to 20 for either Dagger Mastery or Vampiric Precision. Then again im a total noob Necro so I could be totally off. Either way that video makes Necros.. or that spec in general look totally killer.

Spite line is for focus cd and increased range. Unfortunately that trait is bugged so you dont get the 150% damage from spinal shivers. Also, Terror is nice, but not as nice as chilling folks who happen to get blinded…

Thank you. I was thinking chill on blind at first but I didn’t see any blind abilities that we can use often in your setup. Which do you use in conjunction with that trait to get the full benefit?

Really hope they fix the focus trait soon. Didn’t realize it was bugged.

Thanks for the input Talentless, and it was actually a really good tip you gave on the podcast, to get a little of everything, for as cheap as possible. It made me decide trying new things that I was previously reluctant to do so thank you!
