Can this be countered?
most minion masters run full minion builds that buff their masters like crazy i.e. siphoning health, removing boons, taking damage for the master, transferring conditions, etc. minion builds only really have 2 variants both of which involve speccing into survival traits heavily and are mostly likely running zerker in order to get any real damage output from the build. i own them all the time and have succes by immediately nuking all their minions down asap as this is where ALL of their defense comes from and these builds have nearly no investment into DS so once minions are gone you have a completely kitten necro with no mobility, evasion, or defensive mechanics. it seems counter intuitive to go for a players adds first but in the case of minion builds, they literally are useless without a full set of minions, all of which have low health and reasonable long cooldowns after death. spike the minions and the build falls to pieces. if you just go for the necro himself, you will undoubtedly get wrecked. hope this helps. Engineer can counter it Specially if it has bombs and nades
oh so what I have to do is to kill the minions…..but they are tanky……I find it hard to kill them and in midst of killing them I get killed…
Classes with good aoe kill them pretty easy. Have you tried stacking condis on one then using epidemic?

Giving specific advice largely depends on your spec.
In general, take it slow and kill their minions. In order for the minions to hit you, they need cc (d3, flesh golem, rigor mortis) or soft cc (cripples, chills). Dodge those and cure them as fast as you can. Usually mm necros either take soldiers or clerics amulet, so once the minions are down they are easy to kill.
Hey guys I’m finding Minion master necros to be op for 1v1…. I can’t seem to kill them… especially my friend… Minion masters have good hides..good cc/s, anyone knows how to beat them? Please reply if u can pls…this will help the others too. thank you
What build are you running? Like the full thing.
MM builds are strong 1v1, they are definitely in the top tier of 1v1 builds, so if you’re trying to 1v1 him without a very well designed dueling build, then yeah you’ll have issues.
That said, MMs are certainly beatable, especially if they aren’t very experienced.
MM builds are argueable one of the best 1v1 builds of necros (condtion comes close but has hard counters). Beating it will be hard, especially those who know to play mm build…
What profession do you have?
A well played engineer or spirit ranger would be able to beat MM necro.

A good thief, mesmer or hambow warrior will also wreck a mm build.

AoE the minion blob(try to include the MM), try to fear the MM and continue blasting away. Watch out for the bone minions, they offer some pretty good burst damage, and just try to wipe out his source of toughness damage and healing before going straight for him. That’s how I’ve fought them anyway, to pretty good success(running a DS/spec build using LB to pierce).
Just like how I deal with spirit rangers: Well bomb with corrupt and suffering and then DS 5 then 4 and they are usually dead and finally just life blast and axe 2 the dude to death. (powermancer)

A lot of suggestions here won’t work against a good MM. You will never just blanket AoE a decent MM’s minions down, you’ll need to target them. You won’t just free-cast all your abilities, they are going to chain CC you (which can easily breach 12s of constant hard CC rotation from condition-based to daze/knockdown with the same amount of chill following). You won’t just focus the MM through it all.
Its a balance act, a big game of push and pull, if you want to beat an MM. You take the easiest route, because there are multiple ways to win (depending on build). If the MM stacks all their minions up in melee and runs in with them, you AoE them all down. If the MM is standing right next to all the range minions, drop AoE on that. If the MM is positioning themselves correctly though, you mix between focus-firing the MM (to apply pressure) and kiting the melee minions, while trying to get the minions all stacked together, if possible. You also need to be sure to save your defensive and offensive CDs. Most MMs will want to chain as much CC as possible, break a link of the chain and then use a dodge to screw up their timing. Offensively, a lot of what they do to stay alive relies on a few key abilities, and then very high raw defense. But raw defense crumbles very quickly with no sustain.
Again, a lot of it has to deal with build. A power build will want to deal with things differently than a condi, and it depends on the utilities you have as well.
