I was a little upset about Jon telling us L2P basically, and that we needed to master DS.
I could not understand how to master DS since it is a form with just 4 skills and a new life bar,but I think I am getting really close.

I introduce you a power-crit/wells build.
I won’t give a lot of details at the moment since its kinda late and I’m sleepy but any questions will be answered in a few hours maximum

If you wanna see some BIG numbers, go ahead and try something like this.

-Please help me improve this build, I know my play style sucks I used to play wells/melee build so I was basically running inside a pile of enemies and tanking/aoeing everything.
-Any kind of criticism is welcome, open to ideas and opinions.

I haven’t seen any “BIG” numbers. You achieved to do ~6k with Ghastly Claws, but that’s not impressive if you look at other professions. You are somehow durable, but it’s not much more than a regular Necro that hasn’t spend 30 points in Soul Reaping.

Also, if mastering DS means we have to spent 30 points in a certain trait line, than this just sucks. A professions mechanic should work, no matter if you invested trait points or not.

Currently “mastering DS” means 2 things:
- counting down the 40s CD on Life Transfer even while outside of DS
- knowing when your enemy will execute a big attack so you can switch to DS

Salix Babylonica (Necro), Tharnath (Guardian), N Faculty (Mesmer),
Occam Pi (Ele), Acaena Elongata (Warrior), Finja Salversdotir (Ranger),
Bytestream (Engineer), Vim Whitespace (Thief)

1. Thanks for the video. We need more of these for sure.
2. Good to see another Charr Necro.
3. I think you should give yourself more credit. Your positioning is great and you were generally much better than the people you were playing against (my personal favorite is the warrior who ran back and forth for what felt like 30 seconds).
4. I feel like if you were on one of the stronger classes you would dominate.
5. I think Necro is viable (yes, even power). I just think it is weaker to the point of making it an uphill battle.
6. I use a similar build axe/focus + staff (I find it has the best LF generation). I find that even with good LF generation, a DS build is too dependent on DS which can be drained quickly with even minor focus leaving you with axes which feel weak.

Why do you compare necros with “other proffesions”?Necro is a unique proffesion, same as thief, warrior, ele, mesmer etc.

On light armor I could achieve a few less thousands of damage than a thief, with the thief having half my life.
We are not supposed to see damage like an ele, mesmer or thief.

Been using a crit/power – DS build for weeks now.

You should have made a video, showing us that we can output damage like this, weeks ago.

I tried using fear the best possible moment, and even use teleport for reasons like chasing or “need the chill for -66% skill recharge” etc.

Glad to know there are more Charr necros out there , thanks for the support.

Just to clear this up,this video was just in a few hours of playing/editing to show that even we can produce some real burst, while being one of the lowest burst-dealing proffesions,I’m prette sure there are other players out there who can do more, I want to see more myself.

Thanks for all the contribution everyone,I will try working this out a bit more and see if I can see some bigger numbers =]

And therefor it doesn’t have to compete with the other professions? If you are planing to play tPvP you have to bring something special in order to become part of a team. Currently the necro has not much to add (mostly cause most of his unique mechanics are buggy as hell), wherefore you don’t see much necros in the wining teams.

On light armor I could achieve a few less thousands of damage than a thief, with the thief having half my life.

My full damage thief can hit scholars for 10-12k and more. That’s a difference of 4-6k, kinda huge in my book.

We are not supposed to see damage like an ele, mesmer or thief.

That’s what I’m saying. You title should be “Can we Necros see MEDIOCRE numbers?”, cause that’s exactly what they are compared to other professions.

this wasn’t about showing how good necroes were, most people with a clue and a glass build can perform well in non team sPvP, this was about earning $$$$.

I’ve been running power axe/focus/staff for a few weeks now and the damage is good, however it pales in comparison to what other classes are capable of. IMO, the necro damage feels balanced and the other burst classes need to be nerfed to bring them line.

Typical damage versus squishies is 4-6K on axe full channel and DS full channel. Putrid mark will crit for 3-4K. Staff 1 will crit for 2K and DS 1 can crit for up to 4K. A thief will do much more damage than that. They will do it faster, and they have much better mobility and escapability. And, of course, they have a better fear.

It’s kind of insulting actually.

You’re good at playing a necromancer and don’t take this the wrong way…

The number of people in that video that stood in wells for the duration was astounding. Look at the mesmer by the treb…he sat in TWO wells for the entire duration. People in that video, for some reason, seem to be reading tooltips before they press buttons.

Burst damage is obscene at the moment. It feels as if you get only 1 sec unaware by one of the big moves like one hundred blades or your stunbreaker is on cd then you are eating dust.

Which is also a shame because it limits builds (a certain amount of life/tough/stunbreakers is mandatory)

Every class should get at least one good DPS burst skill, on at least one weapon..

I don’t compare my character to other players – I have six alts, and can see the discrepancy myself. With no “trinity,” no serious CC, heals, or tanking, every class should have the means to DPS. I don’t see how it’s even remotely balanced, otherwise.

Necro is playable, but it’s about more than just seeing big numbers. Their damage is a joke compared to half the other classes, especially if you try to play a no-pets build (which should be a viable option, since their pets are kitten annoying).
