Hello everyone,

I’ve some question about the Necro Condition. I have play this build for a lot of time but I’ve some points that make me undecided.

As a condi necromancer I generally play in mid fight with team and sometimes I try to decap far. I play 4/6/0/0/4 and those are my questions:
1) What traits do you preffer in “Spite”? Or do you preffer 0/6/4/0/4?
2) Do you preffer using Nightmare Runes, Balthy Runes, Undead Runes or what?
3) Carrion or Rabid amulets?
4) What combination Runes+Amulets is better for team fight? What for 1v1?

I’ve do a lot of test with Undead+Rabid and this couple give me a very high condition damage a some niche thoungeness, but also Nightmare+Carrion is a good combination. Really undecided.

When I play necro I go for the 0/6/4/0/4 setup with carrion amulet and travelers runes so I can move between nodes and position better. You don’t need travelers though, just a personal preference. You can slap on nightmare and it’ll work just fine. I personally think carrion is better for team fight since it offers a bit more sustain over rabid in case you’re caught out of position. Playing with that I’ve gotten used to it and just leave it on all the time so I can’t vouch if rabid is actually better for 1v1. I don’t think I’ve used rabid since the most recent major patch tbh.

I personally like rabids, nightmare runes with earth and energy sigils.

As for traits, I personally prefer 0-6-4-0-4. With spectral attunement, terror, weaking shroud in curses. Staff mastery and repears protection. Master of terror and spectral mastery.

Staff and scepter/dagger. Corrupt boon, spectral walk, spectral wall and plague form.

The advantage of this build is you are way tankier. The disadvantage is that in a 1v1 situation you will lose to a 4-6-0-0-4 necro. Will have less corrupts. Will lose to a carrion necro or a hybrid necro. will lose to a warrior, will get trashed by an ele, lose to a dps guardian etc etc.

But in team fight you get focussed less and you can survive 1v2 alot longer and stuff.

Really I think the key is to keep the build coherent. If you take path to corruption then you need path to midnight. If you take rabids then use earth sigils. If you have master of terror then nightmare runes become a lot better. If you have settlers amulet undead gets you alot.

Dhuumfire is still the way, my friends.

6/4/0/0/4 Burning has it’s own advantage. I’m still using it and I’m not turning back. Just remember the cd.
I used nightmare runes, and I have to say to like them more than Undead. You lose a bit of dps but that fear could save you, a lot. It also allows me to save my 5# staff fear in cause of heavy CC needed (such as ressing someone, or preventing reviving)

Never played Carrion because I think any thief could just destroy you whend you don’t have much defense (such as toughness).

Thx for your advice…other question about 1vs1.

In those days I have do a lot of progression with this build in 1vs1 and generally I’ve not big problem against every class except some cases:

- PU Mesmer
- Turrent Engi
- D/D ele

Sometimes againts players with this builds and my skill level, I lose.

Can you give me some advice on duels?
I know that condi is not the strongest 1vs1 build and do its best job with good positioning in team fight, but I want to be better in 1vs1 with my necro.

D/D Ele is a tough matchup but a good boon corruption with Path of Corruption and Corrupt Boon followed by a fear chain gets the job done. If they use Armor of Earth wait for the stability Corrupt it then DS #3 followed by Staff #5 then unload everything you got. Should put them down. They key is patience hold on to your fears for the right moment then unleash them all once they have no defenses left.

Turret Engi is a BS build. The only way I can take one down is to LoS and abuse the AoE. If you HAVE to fight them on point then unload DS 4/5 then go into plague and just try to get rid of the turrets. Also Dagger #4 and Staff #4 to transfer back the immobilize and burning. This matchup is tough for everyone right now.

PU Mesmer is dependant on boons. PoC and Corrupt Boon followed by a fear chain. Similar to Ele except you should not be as patient. Once they have 2/3 Phantasms going you are pretty much doomed. Gotta burst them quickly early in the fight. If you let the Mesmer free cast with no pressure hiding behind clones/phantasms you WILL die. The key is to be very aggressive and make them waste all of their stealth utilities early then they are done.

As always the #1 factor to beating anything in this game is practice.
