Carrion vs Dire
carrion much better id think, look at Noscoc and how he plays with it. it’s very effective.
Maguuma
Well for Pve condition builds are only good for soloing content or killing wurm husks. In that case rabid would be ideal for more bleed procs and more condition damage stacked from undead runes and tuning crystals.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
I was using rabid for a while thinking the toughness and the precision were worth it, not I’m seeing if your playing a terrormancer your best bet is going with the carrion in either dhuum or PoC versions it at least makes your life blasts and autoattacks and ds 4 not completely useless. Yeah your a little more vulnerable to theives but I think a terrormancer has enough to deal with most theives. The only reason to take rabid is for crit procs… but I just don’t think bleeds are enough of a reason. I’d rather hit a little harder with each attack and all your condi burst is really coming from terror anyway.

I did some calculating, which I posted some weeks ago in the WvW forum. The effect of bleeds from crits (trait only) was like a 5% damage increase compared to dire gear. Rabid is way more important for Engineers, whose crits can add burning. But for necromancer it is negligible. I am considering atm to change to carion gear too.
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!
In WvW I’d only use Rabid except for solo roaming where it and Carrion are basically even. In PvE I’m not actually sure, I think it depends more on what you are doing, but I think in PvE with the higher stat cap and the presence of things that can better boost your damage (via toughness and on-crits) it might be better.
But generally I’d say they are mostly equal and more down to preference.
Rampage amulet— what? Yeah! best damage for shortbow condi ranger lol why not work on necro as well
im just talking out my back side but seriously
what? yeah!
Dire vs Carrion
PVP – Carrion. Dire amulet is not available
WVW – Toss up. Dire for smaller groups or if you feel you need more sustain.
PVE – Carrion. Would rather deal more damage than be the tanky non support type
I run a hybrid condi/MM build. Carrion is more useful for me since many of my traits improve the more Toughness/Vitality I have.
I use Dire for my Ranger where I have a few weapons that are mainly condi-based, like Shortbow or Speargun.
