Let’s nerf Necromancers, Reaper in particular, before the expansion even comes out.

Lets face it, Dhuumfire is horrible. Any gains stacking it means other conditions fall off and it usually doesn’t hit due to blind spam(1 second attack speed). 5 second ICD on Chilling darkness, chill being limited to 5 stacks… There better not be two condition, reaper, chillmancers in the same vicinity.

No wonder other necros are jumping to other classes or simply going to power.

As I said alot already: the necromancer team has no idea what they are doing with the class. Every patch there are nerfs, while it’s the most lackluster class in 2/3 gamemodes.

Why do I play this profession again? We’ve been crying out for proper balance for traits for weeks now, especially the terrible curses line needing some MAJOR reworking and they made it worse? I was already considering NEVER TAKING curses with reaper even on a condi build anyway and chilling darkness was about the only justification I could make to take it and now with this chance I have no reason to use Curse. I’m losing a reason to take curses on core necromancer. I might just have to give my full sinister ascended armor to my mesmer. Seeing as she’ll make better use of it.

Bitter chill I used to get above 15 stacks of vuln (3 stacks per chill)on the indestructible golem with dagger and chill sigil.

So I tested, now you can not get more then 15, due to the chill stack cap of five. While at this moment this may seem like no big deal…..

They were probably afraid that bitter chill as well would give to much vulnerability to the reaper and if they didnt cap it, between chill stacks from all the reapers chill and access to vulnerability, it would be as always way to OP.

Conspiracy theorist in me says they don’t want other classes locked down by chill forever, yet most classes (Warrior and Teef) already shrug the stuff off with a heal or movement skill. Chill yet again takes a backseat because chill. What chill?

I like how Anet is thinking ahead in terms of class balance, but not looking at NOW where the current problems persist.

You’re absolutely wrong actually, chill spam is much more important than immob because it’s more readily available , and when chained, it’s the strongest condition in the game. Immob is good but you can still evade spam inside of immob which makes it much less usefull, but having a 66% cooldown slow on everything? It’s much stronger, and a much bigger impact in team fights. Immob is strong, but nearly as strong when chill can be achieve near perma with specific classes. Ranger is one of them, and you can get 1m chill uptime with the build alone when somebody doesn’t have condi remove with 6-7 different sources of chill. Reaper will be able to do the same. Chill being 5 stacks prevents that. Now it still benefits people who utilize it for supplemental soft cc purposes but also renders people not able to spam it, if you didn’t you would see double reaper power necros perma chill spam in team fights and tpvp wouldn’t be fun at all.

No you are wrong. A good placed immob folllowed by a good burst is far more devestating then chill spam ever could be.

Honestly if reapers will only bring chill spam they wont be any good. We already have builds that can pretty much spam chill for days and are still not really good in spvp (or any game type).

“A good placed immob folllowed by a good burst is far more devestating then chill spam ever could be.” – People have condi cleanse and evades and a good player will almost usually get out of that condi burst – besides, you don’t immob condi burst anymore in top tier – you setup stuns → burst (mantra mesmer, ele bombs, warrior hammer, etc) immobs not so much anymore. Now, knowing this you put that same condi cleanse or stun breaks on a CONSISTENT 66% slowed cooldown from mostly passive gameplay , it’d be broken. Meta builds rely heavily on cooldowns, especially eles and mesmers. Thieves not so much because ini regen isn’t affected, but steal is, and steal is necessary.

Chillmancer also can to it. Maybe not as much spam as rangers can but enough to make most pvp builds curse chill. Their chills are also longer and are more aoe based. Yeah the chilling darkness was a nerf to them but they should still be able to to it considering that chilling darkness had mainly synergy with rather long cooldown skills (also plague and wod).

I believe chill originally only stacked up to 3 times, like cripple and immobilize. I probably have no idea what I’m talking about though, so don’t believe me without other sources.
