Any chance we could get this in the future? Anet? Anyone? We’re the only class without it in some form ;_;

Unlikely, since they said in one of the streams that necros are supposed to have bad aoe.
I would like it though…

edit: now that i think of it this doesnt necessarily mean no cleave but i guess the dps of dagger is to high for allowing it to cleave. So maybe axe would be the better choice?

We could just get a sword.

Also, they said necros have bad AoE? Because death shroud, my wells, and plenty of weapon skills have AoE. I’ve always loved that about my necro.

Well they didnt say bad aoe (i said it). It was more like “we dont want to give necros good sustained direct damage”.

And wells+DS4/5 is not sustained aoe due the long cds and the aoe direct damage on our weapons is not that good.

They don’t want good sustained AoE direct damage.

We have bad sustained AoE, look at our sustained DPS vs staff ele and you’ll see what I mean; we have strong AoE burst not DPS.

That I’ll agree with. As for the dagger, it is the top damaging/sustain item we have, and I don’t think it’s bad sustain. In dungeons, it builds death shroud quickly and you can put might on your life blasts for extra DPS also why am I typing this ~

And yet it still absolutely pales in DPS to full DPS builds and provides no utility at all. I think with the DPS calculations showing Necro is only middle-line DPS a cleave addition wouldn’t break anything. It might be more useful if the sustain could be used for something important, but its really not that important.

Necro has so much AoE that cleave would have to be on a new weapon without other AoE. This is not impossible, though. Land spear is my favorite path to cleave. Necro needs a short range bleed applicator to compliment the longer range scepter.

I used to think it’d be too much AoE damage, but then I saw the calcs showing that staff ele DPS, while bringing more and better utility, completely destroys ours while being fully AoE. We barely hit 60% of their DPS, so I highly doubt adding cleave to dagger is going to break anything.

I would so enjoy cleaving daggers in wvw, have to change the lf regen a bit

I would so love to have a cleaving weapon for necro. Trahearne gets to use a greatsword, why can’t we? (also: when do we get to learn the “summon 5 flesh golems” skill?)

I feel that the burst AoE on necros with wells, locust swarm, and death shroud is adequate for most of the things I’m doing. A condition necro with Epidemic might be more well-suited for sustained AoE damage, but it requires building up and managing conditions on the targets.

While i am not against cleave on dagger i would prefere it on the axe autoattack since it lacks so much more compared to dagger aa. well thats my opinion atleast, though i doubt we ever will get cleave on dagger or axe.

Axe is a medium range weapon but I would approve shortening its range if cleave were added.
