Returning Necro here:

While everyone’s busy figuring out the most optimal build for our new Scourge spec, I just want to know if Condi Reaper is still viable or if Anet gutted the condi part for Scourge. With “viable” I mean in group play for normal raids or dungeons, NOT the 0.1% perfectly optimized world first guilds.

Apparently we’re getting another balance patch before the expansion hits, so I know we can only speculate at this point, but I’m still interested, as I really love the greatsword reaper fantasy, while I’m still not sold on the sand summoning warlock fantasy.

btw if Devs actualy listened this time reaper will get enough rework to turn it into a WORKING and Viable Power build while gutting Reapers condi Part to the ground….

at least thats their plan…. still waiting to happen tough x.x

Scourge WILL be a better condi Necro tough thats im 100% sure…

Condi Reaper is the best dps right now but is rumored to be destroyed when Scourge is released making Reaper a pure power spec.

When that happens, I hope for a buff to Reaper dps.

reworks are coming to it i heard….. and il hope it will be better then the last time where they actualy Nerfed Power reaper while buffed condi lol…..

But see, this confuses me so much. RIGHT NOW, condi Reaper is far superior to power reaper, that’s the way most people play the spec I’d argue. Yet we basically know for a fact that Scourge will outclass Reaper in condi damage, however there are zero buffs for power Reaper on the horizon.

So for a player like me, who just loves greatswords and wants to play Reaper even when the expansion drops, I’m taking a huge gamble if ANY Reaper build will actually be viable at all or if Anet “conveniantly” forgets to buff power Necro, so we’re all forced to play Scourge.

That really sucks, I was looking forward to craft my first legendary (I want the Dusk blade), but I have no idea if Reaper is even useable in PoF…

Where did people hear about this 2nd balance patch?

maaaan im like this since i got the elite Spec at the begining of the expansion…
and im running Power with GS since the very begining…. and i Aint changing because its cool as kitten… useless but cool….

so you can Imagen how I FEEL about this….. IF the expansion come and there will be no Power Reaper Fixes/changes/buffs only scourge scourge scourge… and reaper will be forever forgotten Spec that devs dont care anymore because it was a previous expansion old blablabla…

then i gonna break something in here….
im bassicaly torturing myself with Reaper since RELEASE hoping that it will be better…
and the ONLY thing i allways got when i read the patchnotes every single time is a SLAP in my face from the devs….

Most of the Anet sponsored testers seem to be saying condi reaper will be gone in favour of power and scourge will take up the mantle of condi/support.

Come on guys this is the necro class were talking about, anet will most likely ruin condi reaper.

And do nothing to power reaper.

Dont get your expectations too high for them somehow buffing this class.

Expac 1, HoT, released with a balance update and I expect that to happen, again. The August update I regard as a partial update to try many of the planned changes coming with Pants on Fire. However, I expect some of the Scourge balance changes could not be implemented without breaking something and this month helps Arenanet see how the August changes shake out.

I don’t want cReaper to be destroyed, why take away 1 thing when you can have both scourge and reaper work well with condi???

Two Condition Elite Specs wouldn’t make any sense. Also it would just be run Scourge over Condi Reaper anyway, because of not being crippled by Combo Fields in Raids. So Condi Reaper would be pointless. Reaper needs to be exclusively Power based.

There is no reason not to have 2 or 3 condition builds but condi Reaper is the meta build for PvE and it is entirely due to a single trait in what is otherwise a power-based elite line.

Letting Necromancer continue using Deathly Chill until PooF, when a more dedicated condition trait line is released, makes sense. However, this is where the problem lies.

If Reaper receives a power buff so players do not need bleeds for fair dps, then DC will make the condi build dps even higher and people will still only want condi Reaper. A condition Reaper is, after all, a hybrid power-condi build and not full condi like core Necromancer’s sceptre gives.

Arenanet will want (I hope) to pull power builds out of the waste bin but can only do that without increasing condi dps, which cannot happen with Deathly Chill as it is.

THIS If they nerf condi reaper, I seriously doubt they’re going to take the time to rebalance power reaper while simultaneously pushing out scourge. Wishful thinking. They just need to leave condi reaper alone. Don’t take away our one decent spec right now. The jury is still out on the shroudless scourge.

I hope they do buff scourge so it is viable as power. Using the shroud I was always meh about so giving it up for something that works better is a trade I would happily make.
