So i recently 1v1ed a diamond skin, full dire, condi ele in WvW.

How to win as a condi nec D=
I couldn’t bring his HP below 90%

also assuming I did, if he bring it up above 90% again, does it re-activate diamond skin?

Yes, it’s always active when their health is above 90%.

The ele traited to counter you. Your best bet if it’s a dire ele is to switch to power and negate his diamond skin. You can trait pretty easily as a necro to handle a condi ele. (Dagger/dagger, staff, well of power, plague signet, etc).

You might not see this as helpful but as a condi necro you are going to have a really hard time getting their health down enough to actually start hitting them with conditions. If it were me I would just counter their counter.

I changed up my build recently for more power and hopefully I get to fight a diamond ele again. And see if my new build works.

You didn’t really have a chance. I mean in pvp a carrion necro can break through the threshold, and if you do it quick enough you can turn the tides with a fear and Some other condis. But if they were full dire, I don’t know how you could deal enough damage.

But, power Necros can deal with their condis easily enough and tear them up, because diamond skin isn’t super useful except for beating up on unexpecting condi builds.

And that’s one of the reasons I use carrion.

won 2 out of 3 duels. The key was to spam staff marks on him then shroud 4 which assuming I hit most of them, would bring him below 90% for a fear chain. which ended the fight pretty fast.

You just staff 1 to get life force, then get through threshold with deathshroud. Once below threshold, you should be able to deal with it pretty easily. Save fear for heal and corrupt boon for armor of earth+heal. Save chill for after they swap to water attunement and use cleansing wave+dodge roll and reapply poison asap.

That’s what I did initially.
I tried using DS also to break his diamond when I first fought him but failed twice.
My initial build I had 1800 power with 34% crit and low CD.
DS lifeblast was only hitting like 500-600 on him and not consistently because of his evades and dodges.
DS 4 was the same.
There was not enough sustained damage to bring him below 90% HP.

I won after my friend told me this:

“You have been playing condi build on your necro for too long. Condi’s style is to slowly build damage and chip away at an opponent’s HP. You can’t do the same against a diamond ele by slowing chipping away his HP. He is going to dodge and heal and evade and destroy you. You need to chain your skills to burst him below 90%.”

That’s what I did. Chained all my staff marks on him and used DS 4 and got him below 90% =D
