From a raids stand point.

I have yet to be a part of a successful raid, not that I’ve been trying to be in a serious group yet though, as my guild is a rather casual one.

I currently have the gear suitable for a power build, but I’m seeing a few vids of successful raids featuring a condi necro.

So what I want to know, if I ever want to get serious about raids, should I stick with my current power gear or spend the time and money to play a condi necro?

In my experience, condi is what’s more desirable. Ranged DPS often has a role, and epidemic is very powerful and unique utility. For melee power builds, it’s job can usually be better fulfilled by other classes that provide some more utility like heralds.

That said, blood magic provides a lot of unique raid utility no matter what build you are.

If you are going to pug, then condi is the safer option, but you can clear the raid on both a power and a condi necro.

Condi has a really good niche right now. Epidemic and certain boss mechanics make it very strong. It has a simple rotation, 900 range and very little interruption if the boss moves (In fact often better damage because of torment).

Power is pretty lack luster in what it brings to the party. It’s less flexible (Melee) and there are other classes that do it much better. When there’s the choice between a Warrior, Revenant or Power Necro groups will always pick a Warrior or Revenant.

It is expensive but well worth it. I’ve switched over completely. While I miss wielding my Dark Harvest I feel like I am actually contributing to raid instead of being tag along.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Since launch, I always wanted to roll a condi necro. It’s good to know that these play styles are starting to emerge using the skills I once likes but weren’t effective until now.

I won’t be missing my dark harvest, mainly because that’s an excuse to put it on my guardian!
