Ok, this has finally got to me. This ability works once every 50 casts. I can have an enemy player targeted. Endurance starved directly in front of me. No Aegis, in range. Cast it, nothing happens. Just a cooldown.

Fix it. If it’s just me, tell me what I am doing wrong because let me tell you, there is no consistency in it.

Despite this amazing game this failure inspires rage inside me towards ANet. Every feeling I have about their amazing game disappears and I am left wishing to hold the Necro dev hostage while he furiously tries to fix this skill. Luckily for me and my forum account I am mature enough to know it is just frustration and a momentary feeling, even if the feeling is immature.

Play another class? Use another skill? No. This one needs to work and soon. With the boons spamming superiority of Eles, Guardians, Engineers, Mesmers in PVP this skill needs to work EVERY TIME.

Could I please get a response on this?

Corrupt Boon

(NB0022) Often misses or has no effect beyond debuffing yourself.

is one of the most important bugs that need to be fixed soon, this utility skill is very important on tournaments but most of time just debuff us.

isnt aegis boon, isnt any block skill, isnt blind, isnt dodge, it just dont work many times, is very anoying and combined with plague signet bug this make our condition build for tourney not so great.

hope they fixe those 2 skills very soon (start to get ridiculous the amount of time to correct major bugs) and if not be ask to much put some more usefull minor traits because most of them are trash for any build on tournaments

plague signet and spectral walk many times dont BS, when i was playing warrior i dont remember using a BS skill and failed

Aegis should block it. But nothing else should. Even if it is on that list, though I did have trouble spotting it, it would be nice to have some feedback on a skill that could effect the ‘guardians are OP nerf’ threads.

It is the best skill in the game for dealing with the boon heavy classes dominating the game right now.

I don’t think Aegis should block CB, if only because you also give yourself a debuff when you use it. Inflicting damage or conditions on yourself (IMO) is a fair tax for how strong the ability is. Now if you didn’t hurt yourself casting it I would be find if Aegis blocked it.

I just wish some other abilities that give conditions to the caster were that strong cough Gathering Plague cough.

Yeah but Aegis is a counter. If Aegis is up the player must use a skill to take it away and needs to look for the boon pre-cast. It is needed for balance.

Hak.9736 – thats the whole point of corrupt boon, stripping the bonuses that a enemy has that give him a unfair advantage, that includes aegis and turning it into burning. it just doesnt work right now and is actually bugged.

Agreed, if it’s not a weapon skill it shouldn’t be classed as an attack, and ergo unaffected by blind or aegis.

HOWEVER, I honestly wouldn’t care as long as they at least fixed it to work as intended! This and Plague Signet are our biggest outstanding bugs.

Hell even the wiki has the condition aegis should turn into in a nice table, burning.

I play a bunker guard a lot now when I’m not on my necro. Even if necros are the ultimate anti-guardian, a good guardian will eventually die to a good necro, but not until it holds out for a good while too. When this skill malfunctions, it’s basically a huge slap in the necro’s face.

I don’t know if you read through this but I started the post complaining that it doesn’t work and that it was required to help balance the current meta. So before you accuse me of being a guardian supporter and wanting to protect Aegis… don’t. I have a grand total of 0 games in PVP as a Guardian.

I do however think there should be timing and thought involved in the use of all abilities in the game and this is no exclusion. That should go beyond just waiting for the most boons to be up. You should have to check for Aegis, use an inexpensive ability to use it up with a low importance attack and then use corrupt boon on the rest. This would also give Guardians the opportunity to actively counter it with F3. Again, this would be fair as the CB cooldown is lower than Virtue of Justice and would be ‘buying the Guardian time’.

As for the table… great. Glad it exists but my opinion and reasoning (and it is an opinion) still stands.

Also, well of corruption isn’t a targeted attack. Wells work differently. This thread is about Corrupt Boon, not boon corruption.

I’m not sure what your point is from trying to defend yourself when no one is accusing anyone about defending classes? Why do that when all the classes are yours to enjoy? I like the freedom and thus experiment with all of them, I feel it also gives me a broader view on balance. The topic at hand is corrupt boon being buggy, I feel not only are we talking about the buggy execution at times, but aegis blocking it seems like a bug to me too (my opinion).

Just spamming corrupt boon is not going to get you anywhere, against a good bunker you slam it and watch them wither when they finally pop contemplation of purity as a last ditch effort to cleanse your conditions. Aegis blocking it or not, you still want to properly time this to have the most devastating effect. Remove their boons when it’s most needed and victory is yours.

The logic is simple, skills says transform all boons into conditions, aegis is a boon. Well of Corruption, a similar skill that also corrupts boon happens to work on aegis even though it works differently. Aegis is a boon, so why can’t it be corrupted? It’s because it’s a targeted attack and because of this, I feel aegis blocking it is an unintended effect. That is again my opinion on the matter, an extension of what I think they should do when bug fixing it.

Logically Aegis is a boon but a boon that blocks the next incoming attack. Corrupt boon is a direct attack and therefore should logically be blocked.

Sword skills? Can you explain this? Necro doesn’t use a sword.

for me it misses 1 out of 15 times maybe,both pve and pvp,dunno what u guys r on about.

Hak.9736 – open the weapon mastery achivements for your hero, kill a enemy with a well (you can get it down to 99% with anything, just kill it with the well), now look at the weapon mastery tab again, see the wonder, you got 1 more one handed sword kill, all skills that cause those achivements to gain points are actually counted as attacks (if you kill something with epidemic condition spread, you dont gain a point, thus not making it a actual attack since attacks have a weapon type).
For short each well thick counts as a attack with a one handed sword in game, if you kill a enemy with it it counts for the sword master achivement. Corrupt boon, just as every effect only skill should not be blockable by aegis that blocks attacks (plague form is greatsword, lich counts as staff).
