In light of the currently proposed changes (I know they’re not final), I needed to think of something new for my terrormancer. Just wanted to know what variety of crappy this is going to be. It’s going to be for general purpose PvP, I guess.
The current build I use is: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNArYWjc0UcbvN22wfbCchC63MAi2IzgJgy4YMA-TVyCABA8gAwR9Hj2fIF9NYpMQijQQWK9GTJ40nSBSBAz0I-w
Yes, I know it’s poorly optimized, I’m a filthy causal ruining the game, I should just play the Hello Kitty MMO, blah blah blah.
In any case, I was interested in preserving as much of it as possible. My builds are generally gimmick or “theme” builds, so they usually specialize into two or three things at most, and often stick to one category of utilities. The three main pillars (in order of priority) are as follows:
1. Fear-related traits, particular fear duration increase (master of terror) and fear damage (terror)
2. Dhuumfire (AKA Dumbfire)
3. Spectral skill specialization
With the new trait proposals, I can’t take spectral mastery and master of terror at the same time since they’re both at the soul reaping master tier level. I think this is a bit weird since spectral wall is the only utility skill necromancers possess that applies fear directly, but I can’t full specialize into the wall and fear at the same time.
At any rate, I was thinking of perhaps ditching the spectral skills and specializing in something else. Given that hemophilia is moved to the minor trait line, this opens up the possibility to spec into corruptions. Could even throw plague signet in there for the epidemic combo if I wanted to.
There’s also the added fact that they’ll be needing to classify consume conditions since it currently doesn’t have one. Given that there’s already a signet, minion, well healing skills, consume conditions is posed to be either a corruption or a spectral skill. Given it’s interaction with conditions, I’d say it’s far more likely to be a corruption. As such, specializing into corruptions could give me a 20% healing reduction, which would be quite useful.
As for the remaining trait line, I wasn’t sure what to go with. I’d probably use some sort of choices as follows:
Corruption terrormancer:
Weapons: Staff, Scepter + Dagger
Curses: Toxic landing + Path of Corruption OR Reaper’s Protection + Terror
Soul Reaping: Soul Marks + Master of Terror + Dhuumfire
w/ Death Magic: Putrid Defence OR Shrouded Removal + Greater Marks OR Reaper’s Protection + Unholy Sanctuary
w/ Spite: Reaper’s Might + Spinal Shivers + Unholy Feast
w/ Blood Magic: Mark of Evasion OR Bloodthirst + Vampiric Precision OR Quickening Thirst + Unholy Martyr
With death magic, I could get an extra source of fear or more powerful staff attacks, and unholy sanctuary would help provide some sustain coupled with putrid defence or shrouded removal. I’d have very easy access to poison, so I could keep that -10% damage up quite reliably.
With spite, I’d have extra boon strips on there, plus a source of might for better damage (possibly coupled with blood is power). There’s also a bit of sustain in the minor traits.
With blood magic, I’d be able to get sources of life steal to help with sustain. I’d generally be running rabid stats, so I’d have a higher crit rate to proc these. I could also opt for move speed while using my dagger. The unholy sanctuary could potentially be interesting as well, as I could suck conditions off of allies and then use them to heal myself with a (possibly) faster recharging consume conditions. Or I could use that to set up a plague signet->epidemic combo.
Anyways, that’s where I was at with my terrormancer build. The only thing that’s really getting botched with it is that I won’t be able to specialize into spectral skills anymore. I suppose I could always just use them anyways, but it could be interesting is they make consume conditions a corruption skill.
