DS Power Build Help
I think that a build focused on using everything to make those few seconds in DS extraordinary is not as effective as a traditional powerbuild that heavily utilizes DS. Yes, it’s great when you can stack all the might for the burst inside DS, but what if you get hit? CC’d? Not to mention that even with all the right traits, majority of your time will not be spent in Death Shroud when you are actually fighting.
I think Death Shroud can and should be one of the main workhorse for a power build. Necromancer power build was already decent before the patch, but it just got a huge boost in Soul Reaping. Rune Orbs instead of runes can not only provide more consistent dps, but it also benefits you much more when you cannot stack those might and pop inside DS. This also allows you to drop some of the might stacking abilities for Wells, which scale incredibly well with power and crit. Not to mention their cool down got a majority buff, and it also provides you with more aoe offense.
Of course, you can definitely create your own build and test them, since I cannot say if your build is unreliable as a pure DS build was before the patch. However, I still believe that DS should support Power builds, not the other way around.

Engineer and Elementalist in progress…
intothemists build is updated, I don’t know of any others that are.
Based on what you already have (for PvE purposes):
-I would swap out spectral walk for well of suffering. The damage difference is pretty significant
-If you are going 10 into curse, grab life force on crit instead. Alternatively, I would still suggest taking 10 in death for greater marks (or staff mastery if there is only 1 enemy).
-In spite, grab might blast, axe training, and close to death.
-In soul rip, I personally grabbed vul/pierce, mark life force, and 50% crit.
-For your gear, you want to get berserker stuff on your rings/accessories/amulet. This is because the crit dmg per stat gain there is much better than weapon/armor. If you want cleric and soldier stuff at all, do that on weapon and armor. Go full zerker on trinkets.
-Additionally, I’d just go full zerker for PvE. If you are going WvW, you may want to consider a hybrid build, so a mix of zerker/carrion may be better. Someone else playing more with hybrid can probably comment on this though. However, I do want to mention that I don’t think 30/x/x/x/30 is a good idea for anything outside of PvE.
-Might stacking is fine. Instead of pirate you probably want fire for 25 more power instead.
Regardless of how you end up approaching the DS build, the primary thing to keep in mind is to have a good rotation so you have roughly 50% DS up time on a single target (obviously much easier against multiple targets).
As mentioned by other, might stacking and duration is your ideal circumstance but most fights are not going allow that ideal situation as frequently as you would like.
DS is also a Necro’s go to option when your health is low, a heal is on a long cool down, to take some big hits from attackers, or even to mitigate fall damage depending on the situation.
I use a DS power type build and find the fights require me to use it in any number of ways to keep on rolling and it is only in an ideal way a low percentage of the time.
If you are looking for a build for death shroud DPS, I recently posted a build guide on that very topic on guru.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/83932-death-shroud-dps-build-for-pve/
It was a quick guide made from quick testing but the results were promising. Hopefully now Death Shroud can be built for some good sustained damage instead of a glorified “Oh S**t!” button in PvE.
