Q:

Ok, i make a little search and i didn’t see nothing about my question. I hope i searched enough good.

When i see opinion about gw2 from game designers and other people how work in Anet i read things like this “We want to keep making balance changes that allow all classes to have various builds they can use.”

But when i look at my necro, my second character, and i try to make some teory-crafting about my future build when i arrive at level 80, i notice that i can’t do nothing with the Death Magic Trait line because every minor trait is about Minion Mastery and i really hate this thing, because i don’t want minions! I don’t want also the stupid jagged horror that spawn when i put only 10 point in this trait line! And i think that this minor traits don’t trust the Anet way of think about multiples build!
I think that this specific traits about minions have to be put in the Major Trait where a Minion Master necro can choose them and a not Minion Master necro can skip them!

So, at least, my answer is: why Death Magic trait line has this bad minor trait? Wants Anet change this thing in future? Or this is only a way to balance the game because change this Trait line will make the necro too tanky?
I hope in an answer because i want only understand why, i’m not whining or something like that.

tl;dr: Death magic has wrong minor traits. They are too specific and this not trust the Anet way of think about varoius build in all classes. Will Anet changes this or not? If not can i know why?:)

All they need to do is switch out all the forced minion minor traits in Death Magic with existing major traits.

Replace Reanimator with Greater Marks
Replace Protection of the Horde with Staff Mastery

Or whatever. Point is, keep the minion traits exclusively to the majors, so we can decide if we want to use them.

Every major slot should have a Minion focused option but each one should be for a different kind of Minion. And each Minion should serve a beneficial function according to the Trait line they are in. Minion in Toughness line for example should shield you. Minion in Power should do direct damage and/or midify your damage while being out. etc… so on so forth. Every line for Necro should have a viable and meaningful Minion Trait.

Until this or something reasonably similar happens I am no longer a GW2 player. I came for Necro Minions (as a Necro since March 1999) and I leave without ever enjoying them.

Every major slot should have a Minion focused option but each one should be for a different kind of Minion. And each Minion should serve a beneficial function according to the Trait line they are in. Minion in Toughness line for example should shield you. Minion in Power should do direct damage and/or midify your damage while being out. etc… so on so forth. That’s similar to saying that every trait line should have some sort of forced improvement for spirit weapons for guardians, or venoms for thieves. It’s clearly not the way that classes and trait lines are balanced in this game. Necromancers are always going to be about more than just minions. It is unfortunate that they have difficulty being about minions right now, but that’s not everything there is to the class.

And I’m willing to bet money that in a week, you’ll still be here crying all over the Necromancer forums.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

I agree with XiL, although I’m still playing…

Minions are just not very well thought out or coded, even if there’s a few builds that do really well using Minions the very erratic behaviour of Minion AI makes it unreliable and situationally good but as a rule a very poor choice of playstyle.

If I could get my money back I would and I would never post on these forums again. But that isn’t possible. So I basically purchased a very expensive private forum account. Anet made the choice to advertise Necro Minions to me. Now I have the choice to express my deep dissatisfaction for being lied to and sold a lump of warm poop rather than the awesome Minion Master Necro they sold my in their launch trailers.
