Death Shroud needs Life Force and Life Force decays at a faster rate when taking damage, I suggest this changes so that Life Force decay is no longer accelerated by damage taken. It may be an extreme suggestion so also consider lowering the decay rate when taking damage.

The class seems to have so many issues -bugs- and it seems DS is pivotal to class balance and it also seems the community is just not getting DS the way game designers intended.

That’s a horrible idea. Death shroud is not a ten-second escape cooldown like Stealth. It doesn’t need to be that powerful.

1. Death Shroud doesn’t “decay faster when taking damage,” it takes the damage for us. It is, quite literally, a second health pool.
2. This would make us immortal for twenty or thirty seconds, more if talented into soul reaping. That is, ah, bad for balance.
3. The solution to a buggy class is not to introduce overpowered compensation, but to fix the bugs.

What use is this second health bar when you damage and utility withers away? The lower the Life Force the less damage you do -or at least below 50% Life Force.

Do I need to buff power for DS to have any meaningful damage output? What if I play Conditions? Is DS only a tool for a 1 sec fear -the 4 ability if you manage to get it off.

Look, unless you go all the way down the DS line to get the 3 sec stability you will be chain CC’d in DS against any one with half a brain.

Unless Anet literally spells it out for us I don’t see anything meaningful and of positive value happening here.

it’s not a paladin bubble ability from WOW….
giving it to much power will be unfair…
look at this game play and you can see some good uses of DS and that it’s not the only way to keep ourselves alive

He has invested ZERO points in Soul Reaping (DS buffing Traits) he uses it for purely defensive purposes and it has no other function for him.

He has the 90sec CD Trait that fears when under CC but the CD is 90sec! Meaning for 90sec every time he uses DS any half descent team will CC him and seeing how he has 0 points in Soul Reaping he will lose all of his Life Force -as the pool is small and decay high- with in seconds.

I’m talking about making DS part of the player so when you go into DS it can be used as DPS!

In any case as it stands it seems to just about any one I talk to that DS is:

pop in
fear
hit 4
pop out

DS DMG based build are possible and if you don’t like conditions so much you can gain might from reapers might by spamming 1, add to that vital persistent for more stacks.
number 4 can give you extra time to stay in DS when needed and can do high dmg with the stacks.
IMO, i dont like the use of DS as DMG cuz it’s boaring me but it can help the weapon DMG a lot

You should be able to change the 1 skill on ds to a bolt that applies bleeds either increasing in stacks with life force or increasing in duration with life force. Stacks would probably be more meaningful (and short bleeds like 2-3 seconds) as you usually aren’t standing around in death shroud very long.
