So many necromancers do not grasp the power of our core mechanic, and it’s a real shame, because I feel that proper use of Death Shroud separates bad players from decent and upwards players. Death Shroud can be very good but it is difficult to get all the possible benefits for it.

As for me I use it to tank damage while waiting on cooldowns, block big attacks, stack might with Life Blast and gain fury, teleport to my opponent, interrupt a stomp in WvW with fear and use Life Transfer in the middle of a big group of enemies.

Worked well for me so far.

Good guide, I have to agree with most of the points you make.

I can only suggest to clean it up a bit by fixing some of the errors that slipped in there, if only to shut up those that would dismiss your guide based on that. For instance, Weakening Shroud having an internal cooldown and only applying 1 stack of bleeding and Gluttony giving +10% from skills (not kills) are two things that come to mind.

i don’t know guys, nothing is more fun than watching everyone gets floored on a huge attack because everyone just simultaneously run out of heals, protection, block, endurance or whatever that is that keeps them alive. DS can take that one extra freaking hit (actually more than one) than will mean reviving more members and preventing a wipe.

Sure, alot of those boons that we have are selfishly for our own perusal. But think about it this way, if you don’t die it means u are keeping the team going. With 3k armor and 30k hp (kindly double that up to 60k for DS), I am not kidding, I can even purposely get pulled by Kholer and live to tell the tale.

I’ve also noticed that you can fall from any height and survive in the game while in Death Shroud. I don’t know if this is intended or just something that happens to me.

Especially useful in WvW to escape the “zerg” and have a laugh at any lemmings who jump after you.

may I not that the necromancer has chill (66% longer skill recharge and movemet), Weakness( 50% less damage output) and retaliation which returns some damage.
Add in the DS and you got boons stacked on yourself with decent damage output too.
I truly can’t understand why there are people saying that the necromancer is the worst class. I see the same thing happening in the guardian and elementalist threads…

Necromancer can be played the worst. I felt comfortable whenever I faced a necro while playing as a guardian but now I’m running a necromancer myself. It’s not so weak a class but it takes a bit more skill than most other classes. Still don’t know how to make engineers work though.
