This is just IMHO, but does anyone else agree it’s kind of silly we start with 0 LF in PvP? Not all of us are spec’d, nor using weapons, that allow us to regain LF fast. With my current set up I rarely make it over 50% because most, if not all actually… Of my LF is gained from deaths, none from weapon or trait skills. I’m not saying we should start with a full bar. Just that what ever we have currently in our bar shouldn’t be pushed back to 0 when the match begins.
I don’t think Thieves start with no Initiative… And I don’t think Rangers start with dead pets… | :
ur comparisons don’t make sense… thieves regen their initiative fast so it doesn’t matter how much they start with, and rangers just press f4 at the start to revive their pet… lol.
Before each match, summon all your minions, then swap them out for your real utilities. Their deaths will give you life force when you swap them.
@ shadowpass; I was comparing the fact that Death Shroud and Life Force are our special mechanics. All professions have a unique mechanic to them and ours is the only one that is knocked back to 0 and is also difficult to regain if we don’t have the proper utility to do so. Where as all other professions such as Warrior and Adrenaline for example, can regain their special mechanic with ease regardless of their weapon choice or trait points.
@ Neko; Thank you! I’ll have to try this out. I use a very customized build that, although very effective in combat, has a major flaw I can’t work around, which is constantly having 0 LF. It’s not a problem in WvW or PvE because there are always things dying nearby so I never have to worry about it. But in tPvP I hardly ever reach even 50% LF, so I have to be really careful about how I spend it.
I have to agree. Unlike most classes, we’re quite dependent on our Death Shroud and starting with 0% LF is a bit of a problem sometimes.
Personally, I’ve gotten used to it and don’t really mind. However, I think it’s kinda off-putting for newcomers and casual players.
Yes, please!
Oddly enough I wanted to create such post myself today. It doesn’t make common sense. For example while entering wvw map – we have to kill low level mobs to gain life force. Or switch on and off our minions. What kind of mechanics is that?
If you enter spvp arena – you have disadvantage at the beginning over other players. It`s not the only class that have such thing, however we lose the most. For example – warriors with adrenaline lose only one skill (and maybe some damage if traits are used), we lose 5 skills. And survivability, what DS itself do, so that’s 6 skills. Disengaging players, who love to reset fights, are making this mechanics even more absurd. For example – thief can easy reset fight one or two times while my LF is slowly draining and eventually he will have me with non, which mean, well.. That most likely I`m dead. Or that, or I have to maniacally hit all surrounding mobs (if there are any). And of course in that case – not to regenerate my health.
This should be one of the main changes for necro community to ask for. So those who support this idea are welcome to do so in this or other treads.
ANET, I do hope you will read this.

ANET doesn’t give a kitten about it, this problem has been reported multiple time since september 2012.
Enjoy a game with so much freedom of choice that they can’t even stay after it lol.

The necro forum was full of these threads before you could do the minion opener in tpvp. But the issue has been completely resolved since you can start every match with at least 20% lf this way.
It did however create a new problem, the more necros in a team the more life force each player gets at the start. I played some solo arena matches recently with 3 necros in my team and every time we would start with ~80% life force. Is that balanced? Maybe you really should get 20% at the start and the minion thing should be disabled instead. Then again, I haven’t heard anyone ever complain about a necro starting a match with too much life force.
As a heads up, minions with sacrifice skills tied to them do not grant life force upon death. Only Shadow Fiend, Bone Fiend, and Flesh Golem grant life force.

I normally sideline on team fights and see where their squishies are… Usually if I can get them locked down I well of suffering>lich form for the first team fight and by the end of that my life force is full….
You just gotta down one person or join the team fight. Then as long as they are not on point staff auto them to death while they’re in downed state for a full life force bar. Thats what i do XD. I tried the sacrificing minions which works in hotjoin. but unless im missing something in tpvp your life force resets when the game is about to begin on the last 10 second timer. Your skills are then locked at that point. Dont wana be stuck with minions when im not MM.

Well technically flesh worm gives life force upon death. You only have to blow it up…
I’ve been running soul marks just because of this, along with traited spectral skills in my condi build just for better life force regen. Usually when I’m losing fights it’s because of having no life force.
