Dec 14th Minions still broken but >>>
As I’ve already said on the necro forums, the devs have absolutely zero concern for the necromancer at this point. It is clear that not even one person at anet plays necro regularly. That is why patch after patch you get these necro changes that seem out of the blue and completely unnecessary for the necro. TWO of our trait lines are completely useless, yet we get not a single fix for them. While this is not another QQ post because necros are very strong in the hands of the right player, it just makes little sense to me why our clearly broken mechanics are going unnoticed.
It’s so infuriating that the developers seem so intent in putting resources behind tweaks and fixes that are very low priority to the players. I’m sure there are people out there that focus exclusively or regularly on underwater combat — but these people are so few as to not warrant any attention.
We have issues with minions, build diversity and general balancing that far outweigh any problems taking place under the waves. It completely perplexes me that minion A.I. has not been touched even a little bit. I often wonder if the developers think we’re exaggerating when we use the word “broken” in reference to them? Perhaps they think that minions work, but are not always responsive? These patch notes lead me to believe that the latter is true.
The class philosophies in the notes are even more confusing. Wasn’t this game suppose to allow playstyle freedom with each class being more flavor than pigeon-holed tank/heal/dps? Whatever, I’ll wait patiently for the next patch before seriously playing my necromancer again — though I suspect I’ll be making a similar post when that one comes around.
tl;dr
fix minions.
Did you forget the fact that we still don’t have even a single way to heal minions under water? None… not even traited. No well… no mark of blood… no life transfer.
All vampiric traits are still a joke that doesn’t scale with healing. Oh wait… most of our healing doesn’t scale.
Minion AI is just funny.
One and only decent minion when he graces us with his assistance can’t be summoned under water… we get plLAaaAGuueeE… oh yeah… plague removes all minions, I “almost” forgot about that. So does lich form… moa which also disables even crapshroud.. and every other polymorph effect in the game. YAY.
You still have downright laughable damage compared to any class with exception being rangers… assuming ranger knows what hes doing.
I read through their idea of what they are aiming for every class. I must have missed all those disabling effects that they mentioned for necro. I’m having a hard time thinking of a class that has less CC then necromancer. And no… ranger has better CC then we do actually in form of entangles and snares which can’t be broken with CC break skill or stability.
Axe and staff has a borderline joke damage.
Bleeds have a 25 cap so god forbid you try to pve with a condition necro. Because that thief/ranger/warrior/engineer will stack 25 bleeds before you can even swing that worthless scepter of yours. So you will be sitting there with a thumb up your kitten doing no damage.
Support… what support? We can’t buff… we have a well with pretty welfare regen and mark of blood which needs to be triggered by enemy… yeah awesome stuff. Yeah we can trait for 3 second protection per well. That sounds so useful… up until you realize you have to sacrifice all your skill slots for measly 12 seconds TOPS with 40 sec cooldown.
Why are we the only class that does everything with utilities and our weapons serve as minor utility skills(dagger doing somewhat releasable damage)?
Why is it our traits are so all over the place and make no sense what so ever after all this time? Why are most of them still broken? Why are good portion of them are utterly useless in any way/shape or form?
I’m not here to debate semantics and perspectives. But I picked necromancer because it screams minions. And yet its completely useless aside from 1/3 of times against WEAK npcs that aren’t in packs? They don’t regenerate… they get mowed down in 3 hits by random trash mobs. They get 1 shoted by veterans and up. And when they miraculosly survive a fight against a single crippled rabbit(usually due to not bothering to fight at all) you attack next crippled rabbit with a pack of apendages that are almost dead and just get wiped out in first attack… and then you sit and wait entire cooldown?
You know… as a third party spectator I can only call this as kitten job in every department, as far as this class goes. Not a single redeeming quality. Its not unique, it doesn’t serve a purpose nor does it fulful any role that something else can’t.
And yet we got a buff for our Locust Signet…. YAY. How about fixing our stun break signet? The only signed that was ever worth using? No?…
Death sround under water is just laugable… and why does it only work for few very specific specs and hurts more then helps for others?
I could sit here and point out trashy job all day long. But its been done so many times already I don’t even know why we are still here. I haven’t played gw2 in a month… and I can’t say I was even excited at small miniscule change that this patch would do something productive.
Also since I dared to criticize this abhorrent beast that arenanet calls necromancer. I fully expect my post gets deleted soon and I get another suspension. Mods here are easily kitten.

Perhaps these bugs were not ready to make it into this patch and will be featured in the future, hopefully soon. There were a lot of bugs not squashed and even some new ones created.
Like healing enemies?
Like the fact that necro is the only class that has bugged mad kings outfit?… meaning your brawling score resets due to you actually doing damage and healing it..
Like the fact that atm necro is the only class that doesnt have a specian in mayhem…? Because disabling it for only necro is pretty epic idea… See what I did there :P
If necro wasn’t in game I think I would have a much better opinion on this all thing. I mean story isn’t bad… level design is superb. Its just my luck to always pick broken classes.
regretfully I think this kinda stuff is the repercussions of a free monthly subscription>Although I will probably get flamed for using the word it is one of the things I do really appreciate about wow is that they would have never let a class go broken for any period of time even close to what the necro has been. That being said gw2 has the best combat Iv seen in a mmo and hope that the developers can start doing a better job of fixing there game.I don’t know about most of you but id gladly pay 15 per month this game if it had real endgame content and constant class tweaks and fixes like in other larger mmos. That being said the fact that I can just pick up this game and play whenever for FREE still makes it worth every penny and I kinda feel cheap when I kitten about something like one class but hey man I love locks and necros and classes of the like so Id like to see this class reworked..cheers
Sometimes I wonder if what we need is a name change. If we were to successfully petition a class name change to “necromesmer” or “nwarriormancer” then maybe we’d get more attention.
“What… is your quest?”
“What… is the capital of Latveria?”
Aoi dont waste your time man, its not worth it. the worthy emotions you put into this are wasted.
you can post on this forum until the end of days and you wont get heared by the people you want to get attention of.
play your necro as is or just start a warrior or play another game. there wont be any fast and good changes. the devs are busy with happy new year textures and probaly they work on the eastern celebration textures for april. they have no time for Necromancer class fixes.
if they change something in the near future then that will be more “optimized” underwater skills which anyway only 1% of all players use….
lol well, that was a joke. They do say, however, that in every joke there is a kernel of truth.
“What… is your quest?”
“What… is the capital of Latveria?”
“Warlock” is what we have in GW2…. there is no Necro in GW2 yet
a Necro is something else
