It is very unlikely for them to add brand new weapons at this point. The most you can hope for is a Greatsword that, while using skills, gets a scythe particle effect and scythe-like animations, a la staff.
But it would be a huge resource drain for them to just add in a whole new set of weapons at this point, compared to making Necro have scythe-y animations on existing weapons.
Giving us greatswords with the scythe staff animation would make me undeniably happy.

well a melee scythe would be awesome the reason people say GS is the fact its already in the game and has been said by Anet they want to open all weapons to all classes. I think that would happen before new weapons got added.

getting a greatsword on necro would give me a reason to start on Twilight too.
