Hey Devs,

History is a great insightful tool to spawn conversation and understanding among us and it gives us a peek under the covers. I thought it would be fantastic to ask for a narrow response that would be too focused for a blog (also saves you Dev’s some response time) and maybe pull the covers out of a specific component of the Necro (like we somewhat have with DS)… have a little DEVTalks segment.

Devs want life siphon, you can just feel it in the way the traits have been built to work but I’m positive it is one of those tricky archetypes to balance against the principles of the game as I think the Necro has become in some regards. Would it be possible to get an insightful response from the balance team on …

  • The challenges of actually developing life siphon against the principles of the removal of the healing component of the trinity.
  • Detail some implementation types that never hit the ground or were ruled out and do not exist today.
  • Versions that were in alpha but was found to be too strong in implementation
  • Versions that were in alpha but was found to be too weak in implementation (maybe where we are today?)
  • and maybe what you can’t talk about, thoughts on future versions .

I will be honest and say this question is posed with bias. I want life siphon to work well. I played a siphoning necro since GW1 beta’s, I have played it since GW2 beta’s, I will never stop playing it no matter the efficiency issues (strangely I find ways to make it JUST work as it is but I feel the hampering). I am biased.
