Dev request: Mark of Evasion
Can we only do it outside of sPVP? :P I like it for marking where thieves are moving. It’s a very useful tell.

Maybe you could Consume Conditions so you can put yourself in combat and drop one? ;-D
Also i think the 8 seconds internal cooldown is total B.S, if I dodge twice in a row I’m a dead man. And its not like necros get any vigor so we do not have the luxury to dodge more than once in 8 seconds…
I would assume that it would already work this way. Most of the dodge traits I know (Evasive Powder Keg, Deceptive Evasion, Reckless Dodge, etc.) only activate while in combat.
Guess we can’t assume too much, but there is fairly heavy precedent.

And then do another transfer to get rid of the vulnerability keeping you in combat!

Yes, transfer it to the mob you just had to agro because you hit dodge after using your heal out of combat.
Also why does it have an icd. Its not like we have a billion dodges

Solution
Can you please ensure this trait only place a Mark of Blood when we’re in combat?
I completely support this notion.
But I think this trait will be changed to ooc-only anyway.
Just to clarify, there are on-dodge traits on other classes as well. The warriors’ Reckless Dodge, the engi’s Evasive Powder Keg and the mesmers Deceptive Evasion only trigger in combat already.
The only dodge trait that triggers a damaging skill even out of combat is the thief’s Uncatchable (Caltrops). But if there is one class that can avoid getting into combat by leaps, teleports or even stealth, it’s the thief.
Basically, for all other on-dodge traits there are already mechanics in place to avoid forcing a player into combat, except the current Mark of Evasion of course. And not only do necros have the worst mobility, but the new standard 240 mark size would make this trait even weirder if it triggered ooc.
So yeah, I’m pretty sure Mark of Evasion will be made to only work in combat anyway, but since we couldn’t see any explanations about our traits on stream it should definitely be mentioned here on the forum, just in case.

Sir, I like where your head is at.

Oh that is interesting, I used to main thief and tried caltrops out and hated it in WvW. I assumed that all other on dodge traits would trigger OOC. It’s good to know it probably won’t trigger unless I’m in combat.

Better solution, activate Plague, bleed yourself every second, don’t press 2, instead, dodge roll into stealthed thief,
and let the bleeding from all eyes due to the horrid marking of HoT COMMENCE.
The existing blood magic minor trait causes your mining/logging/gathering skills to fail and give you “ruined log.” if you get hit.
The new trait is an improvement over that.
Anyways, last week we were complaining. “my regeneration from blood magic minor traits doesn’t do anything if I activate my profession mechanic.”
I think anet is trying to, ahem, dodge that issue.
