Dhuumfire -Changes aren't necessarily a nerf
I use Dire armour so this is a welcome change.
No Life – Force:
So what happens if you have no life – force? Its is very unlikely that u run around without life force especially if you are in PvE or WvW. Even if u have no LF you can fill that bar extremely fast with skills such as Spectral Walk/Armor or killing ur own minions. If you have 15 in soul reaping you get another Spectral Armor so Life Force actually is no problem.
Its the same as with Warrior they have their adrenaline up all the time.
I don’t wholly agree with this statement – we are the first target in WvW… getting focussed tends to suck away any Life force pretty quickly – just tonight i was having this issue… sometimes you have some LF and sometimes not.. it just depends on the situation.
I play zerker Necro, Lifeblast is one of my main tools… i still think Close to Death is a better trait – the new version doesn’t belong at Grand Master level. I might try it out and see what happens.
Condition Necro’s are going to struggle – that is my prediction.
I think we’re already drifting out of the meta and people haven’t realised it yet. I just hope we arrive at one patch day where there are no nerfs – not sure i will stick around long enough to see that, however.

I think people are just unhappy about making an op trait have some skill and thought process implemented. People like easymode passives because they are lazy.

I play a hybrid spec (direct+conditions) not a huge deal for me, yet most of your conditions come from weapon skills and utilities, both of which you get locked out of in DS. Is counter play a bad thing? No but tacking a short burn to a skill you don’t use often in a class mechanic that requires you to build life force, has a cool down itself and has a giant tell for what’s coming next and ALSO leaving a long internal cool down on it does not make sense and is hard to see as anything but a Nerf to a trait that had other parts of our class nerfed with out seeing compensation in other areas.
so I would say either remove the icd and allow it to synergy with life unyielding blast and give Condi a reason to stay in death shroud and adds something to powermancer also.
or
change the trait to be a way to stack torment as a way to keep our enemies in combat with us.

I don’t think that’s entirely true. While some might just want to remain OP, a lot of people are upset because we’ve had no indication it’s being moved (down and across), and the new version is barely worth a master slot when compared to Incendiary Powder.
Plus, there are plenty of people who would like to see it totally gone, since it’s uncharacteristic for its trait line and the Necro in general, and has resulted in nerfs to itself and other effects that were fine before it’s introduction.

Of course this is true, but rational people are fully aware of what happened to our most effective and “skillfull” skills as a result of dumbfire being available. Making it a shadow of its former self, and it will be that to be certain (in spvp), and that will leave us where?
I am by no means an amazing player, but I don’t feel like I face roll people in spvp at all. They balance around that environment, and I don’t think it is going to hit the mark unless there are other critical details being withheld.
WvW is another story because we have dodged all the bleed nerfs and have rare veggie. Nerfing dumbfire won’t make much of a difference when we can bleed at 2400 condition damage with 50% duration and zero points in spite. In fact my prediction is a WvW necro is going to be better off going with defensive traits and dropping the over the top burning damage.
Hell I have had situation where I wish I didn’t have burning, because people melted faster than I could land epidemic after a rotation….
