Dhuumfire alternatives
How about this:
Keep the fact the trait is connected to Life Blast but change it to Torment and make it so that the FURTHER away you are the more stacks it gives, This way you have the choice stay close dealing better direct damage or stay at range and deal decent direct damage but supplement that with Torment
Something like:
Wiltering Blast – Life Blast crit inflict Torment, further away from the target means more stacks. 0 – 600 Range: 3 Stacks, 5 seconds. 600+ Range: 6 Stacks, 5 seconds. 10second cool down
Ash, I kind of like that idea. We could use more access to Torment and hoped we would get a weapon that applies it.
There is also another way to look at Torment stacks having it depend upon the amount of LF or health available strengthening if a user’s pool is empty or full much like bars of adrenaline for the War.
A grandmaster trait that increases Torment use would be handy.
An interesting idea, I would reduce the cool down and make it inflict more stacks the lower your Life Force is.
100% – 75% – 1stack, 3 seconds
75%-50% – 2 stacks, 4 seconds
50%-25% – 3 Stacks, 4.5seconds
25%-0% – 4 stacks, 5seconds
reduce the cool down to 5seconds.
i want that trait replaced with one that if necro hits 25%-30% of hp treshold he become invulnerable to all cc effects ..which may help him .. necro dont have 400hp/s passive regen which dont need 1000 years activation time so grandmaster trait like this could help him keep in fight a little bit longer against all the classes that cause heavy cc ..
other classes have dmg/condi/block other immunities necro has none of it ..

While in Deathshroud, apply 2 Second of Burning to Enemys near you, if you get hit by an enemy. (Range 120). If an enemy Stuns you while in Deathshroud, 5 Seconds of Burning and 5 Stacks Torment are applied.
Talents that smack of face-roll-easy don’t go far with patchers in steady relationships with other professions. You need to think like, “This trait skill should only be strong if I nerf the bass out of some other trait line and even then it should be dodge-roll/block/immunity/minion-drrpable so it lands only if the opponent is sleeping on the keyboard.”
If the trait skill does not tease players into trying a carp build or require skillluck to be effective, the odds are less than zero they won’t laugh at the suggestion and open up a can of cowabunganerf on you and say “Doomfuahahahaaaaa.”
Dmnit, it’s late. I need sleep.

Doing this ^^ helps Necro’s obtain some sort of dedicated condi damage without it being wiped by someones lesser damaging condi of the same type. It also opens up for combos. Maybe a trait within Death Magic that can explode this Mark to deal X% of the damaged loaded onto the enemy. It might be annoying in WVW when someone else blows up your mark but chances of the Death Magic trait being on a longish cooldown wouldn’t be much of a problem and could allow for better teamwork.
Ragnar, I wholeheartedly agree Duuf does not belong in Spite and hope it gets moved or added as a passive in DS like the livestream indicated.
Necro needs something in Spite that works completely different than Close to Death’s dps increase. There are a lot of options. A vampiric booster would be nice, too, as it requires vampiric trait skills
Remove Dhuumfire and replace it with this:
XI Hungering Death:
Siphons now have the ability to heal the necromancer while in Deathshroud. While In Deathshroud the damage of siphons is increased by 100%.
*Condition builds will need compensation for all the heavy handed nerfs rained down due to Dhuumfire
Clearly the way siphons function now they are next to useless and can be outhealed by consumables. This would be a way to give power and hybrid builds a sustain option (Why a condi trait currently is in Spite is beyond me) and a way to link a currently subpar sustain mechanic with our class “attrition” mechanic. Most DS attacks are slow and only Life Transfer or a few heavily trait dependent setups would have the opportunity to benefit from multiple ticks meaning the healing and dmg would be supplementary but not OP. Also for it to become a siphon tank you would need to heavily invest in some combo of death/blood/soul reaping meaning its optimal sustain comes at the cost of damage.
This is my entire post on it:

^Nice idea.

No alternative. Just remove the trait.
