Dhuumfire question
people think conditions are super mega op and because every single burn and bleed is listed as one stat in this PvP-damage-history, so it is most of the time “the main damage source”
Some hate both traits, because you can’t evade it, because it is the first crit after 10s, no matter how many attacks you dodged or block.
Overall it is a small damage boost for the necro.
According to the patch preview Incendiary Powder will be moved to master tier.
For necros it’s actually 2 seconds in sPvP only and still 4 seconds in WvW/PvE, just like Incendiary Powder.
Also, getting Dhuumfire means you’ll have +30% condition duration from the trait line, and at least an extra 40% from food in WvW.
It’s not just incredibly strong, but it’s a passive proc: no skill – high reward, mix that with the already high condition pressure a necro can apply and it becomes overkill.
Max out the duration on Terror ticks on Fear, Thats were our dmg lies. Dhumfire is just a Little xtra. but getting 3 ticks terror/fear yummy. And target is forced into movement and the effect of Torement kicks in.
Servant of Dhuum
The main issue is because Dhuumfire is a high-damage cover condition on a necro. Condtidion necros without counting Dhuumfire typically apply bleeding, poison, weakness, cripple, chill, and torment in their standard play, and that’s before counting the Fear to lock our target out of most condition cleanses.
Dhuumfire is hated because it is high damage that doesn’t actually matter much to the necro, but prevents cleansing of the far more dangerous bleed stack. The necro spent no time at all in adding Burning and, given its short duration, doesn’t really care if it gets removed.

High damage? I have no idea what you are talking about. There is nothing high about it.

For a cover condition, it is very high damage. Nobody that uses Dhuumfire uses it as their exclusive damaging condition. It’s a free 2k damage (full duration) every time it procs that covers the far more powerful bleed stack (which is probably 1.5k/second)
It’s a free 2k damage (full duration) every time it procs…
…in sPvP. In WvW this can net 6-7k if it isn’t cleansed, and of course the longer duration there provides a longer cover for other damaging condis. It creates a snowball effect that is almost uncounterable for some classes, and like it’s been said already: it requires no effort on the necro’s part to be pulled off.

at my condi dmg when I run 30/20/0/0/20 is 1890 with will equal about 801 burning dmg per second!
now combine that with:
10 stacks of bleeds – 1370
poison = 269
fear = 1k+
no add that together and you get around 3440 dmg a second for lets say 3 seconds thats 10,320 dmg!!
so please tell me again how that is not High dmg?

You are talking about all of those conditions. I am just refering to the grandmaster trait dhuumfire and itself is not that high that it gets ridiculous. imo Backstab is high, earthshaker is high etc.

And how many attacks/skills do you need to get all that conditions up?

About 4 skills which can all be delivered in 3 seconds.

BS and Earthshaker can be dodged, blinded, blocked and they need to be in melee range.
Burning is guaranteed damage for a necro, burning cannot be blocked blinded or dodged, you do NOT need to be in melee range for this to proc.
The thing is, all condition builds are balanced around this trait. Every time we get our bleeds nerfed, we are pushed even further into taking dhuumfire for its cover and condition duration. My spectral terror build was heavily nerfed to the point of it barely being optimal because of this trait.
It’s really a two sided thing. It does a fair bit of damage(especially outside of sPvP) and it kills build diversity further because of its nature of being hard to balance. Balancing things around a passive trait is not the way to go.

Weird that wvw matches you never see an army of necros for that damage. It’s an army of warriors and guardians for the damage. You know why, because direct damage is king, condiotion damage is weak, very weak so it will never be high damage in my book.

do you want to know why warrors and guards are the class to be in wvw:
1. AOE condi clear with shouts/utilites
2. AOE boon application
3. Regen, regen regen
4. warrior only (condition immunity)
5. cleave dmg
so yes in WvW when the Noobs zergs all day power is better.
when it comes to skilled play a good group of condi necros can shut down another group no problem. (we have dont it when we zerg bust and in GvG’s)
Back to the Dumbfire topic
it should just be removed instead of Nerfing our other skills because of how strong burning is.
(edited by Brando.1374)
No it should go to a lower tier, it’s not worth of being a grandmaster due to it’s weak nature.

Should switch places with Barbed Precision.
