Did necro get to much boon corrupt
I personally don’t think so with the amount of boon spam there is in any given group fight in Spvp or even WvW.
I have been playing boon corrupt necro for a very long time. And I think I am really good at it since it is the only spec i feel confidence with it. I once hold off against 2bunker tempests and a shout gd in stronghold until time ran out. They werent able to kill lords and kept duing because of the boon strips. Now, all heavy def amulets are gone and we got 10x more boons currption.
This change is too good. It will be nerfed. I am SURE of it. So enjoy it while it lasts.
I think the auto attack boon corruption is too much.
The rest, no, simply because it requires give-and-take. They did the right thing by sprinkling the class’s niche throughout so you didn’t have to play one build to do it, but since there are limitations, it’s fine.
Still don’t like the auto attack boon corrupt PERSONALLY.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Scepter auto didn’t need boon corrupt, everything else, good stuff. They’ve allowed us to pick traits that we maybe didn’t think about using before simply because they’ve added some synergy to boon corrupt on them. The builds I’m testing now are just whacked, things I wouldn’t use before, but now they look fairly good.
Ran this all night.
Being able to fear people with scepter auto is pretty amazing, and Corrupt Boon feels much, much better now.
I’m not sure if the boon corrupt is too much yet. So far it just feels like I’m kind of sort of playing a decent class.
Merc amulet + more boon corrupts + mesmer nerfs + rev changes might be a lot for people to process right now.

Corrupt on AA might be a bit much, especially on a condition damage based weapon as it will allow the users to take advantage of damage conditions. However, the other ones that were buffed were on flat underpowered skills. Yes its a lot of corruption to add, however if you look at what it was added to, they were all things that needed just a bit of love, and had good synergy with corruption.
Actually it doesn’t seem to horrible on live. The reduced amount, combined with the inaccuracy you’ll have if you honestly try to nail the corrupt on every 15s cooldown… the sustained boon removal through scepter is nice against targets that are running from me, and curses feels a little better now that dagger #5 and the GM trait remove a boon. I feel like this just gave necromancers more wiggle room.
Would have rather seen chill denerfed to work against Thief and Warrr movement skills again, and GS attacks speeded up with more range.
No, but i think necro got more alternative traitlines/playstyles with booncorrupt, making booncorrupt more part of the necro theme. I also think scepter aa corrupt is a bit situational as u usually have other stuff to cast, and aaing may not be ideal when focused.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
When you are focused ( good teams ) you are not able to use that scepter AA boon corruption so it will be pretty much useless most of the time and will only work in 1v1 situations and teams that cant focus. Remember the motto “It’s a team game” When Ele etc. required 2 or more players to kill everyone said “It’s team game not 1v1” So i don’t see the problem necro having boon corrupt on scepter.
I’d give scepter AA boon corruption anyday for better damage mitigation to survive focus fire better/mobility and buffing/healing allies.

Frankly having various boon corrupts on a few weapon skills & traits for on shroud enter would have been enough.
If they really wanted to keep more boon corrupt on scepter they could have put it on the #2 so it was AOE.
Having it on the AA is just over the top.
And quite frankly I and many other people I know would have much rather seen necro get some group support (IE protection, swiftness, retaliation & more reliable heals)
As is with the corrupt spam the necro will be insanely powerful 1v1 or 1v2 but still melt vs any more due to lack of support & lack of scaling defenses
I love this, but it’s not enough to stop me from running Signets of Suffering. Plague Signet is basically an auto-win vs. any other condi player, and signets as a whole cast faster than any of the new corruption options in an emergency.
I really don’t envy anyone with passive boon production though. They will probably nerf the duration of several corrupt conditions, like cripple and weakness in particular.
Necromancer got enough boon corruption to make condition builds more attractive. Necro should be a better counter for boon generators and I suspect scepter and OH dagger are more useful to power builds than they were because the corruptions proc regardless of Curses and condition damage.
A dagger-warhorn power build may choose Scepter-dagger over staff as an alternate range weapon. Both scepter and dagger are less unattractive in power and hybrid builds.
I really think it is too much. Funny it motivated me to focus on classes that use few boons. That is until they change it (nerf) some of the boon corrupt to boon wipe. Players shouldn’t get feared when they pop armor of earth because a necro auto-attacked them. These are big cooldowns being completely invalidated by these changes. Boon corrupt is very powerful and needs to be kept as something to build towards, not just aftermath of playing necro.
Obviously it is too much, it is wrong the answer to the problem, a typical lazy poorly thought through Anet “fix”.
There is too much boon spam, that is what needed to be changed, not adding braindead passive corrupt spam like boon corrupt on autoattack, or giving corrupt boon a silly low cooldown so the consequences for using at the wrong time or missing it are minimal as it will be ready again in no time at all, more changes that lower the already low skill level of this game.
If we just got the scepter auto buff I would say no…but after all the additional boon corrupts but on other necromancer skills yes, it’s a bit overwhelming really.
It makes offhand dagger and curses more attractive. Also signets are no longer mandatory which again is a good thing.
I don’t actually use scepter at all in any build and actually run spiteful spirit. Feels more useful now somehow.
With the amount of boon spam in the game I don’t think it is too much. I would have rather they reduced the boom spam, but i’ll take what I can get.
If they do remove the AA boon corrupt then they should add a LF gen on boon removal trait somewhere. That would allow OH dagger to get some LF gen, and give condition necros a way to generate LF more reliably.

What makes this “obvious”?
They could probably stand to remove the poison from putrid curse so it’s pressure isn’t too strong, though then it’d be weaker in pve, but kitten that.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
I agree with the thinking that the aa scepter corrupt isn’t such a big bonus since you can rarely afford to just auto and it’s single target too. I’d actually much rather have it on #2 so you could direct your corruption a bit more and it would be aoe, but my perspective is as mostly a WvW player, so probably biased in some ways.
In the olden days of WvW, wells necro was brought mostly for boon corruption. We used to call out ‘boon strip’, then it just became ‘wells down’. Scepter isn’t a wells build weapon, but maybe it’s time to check out a Curses, chilling darkness based build again, maybe s/d & staff…
We will see, but I don’t think so.
HOT boon spam was out of control, and nobody, even necromancer, had enough boon removal for it. Every class now poops out boons for doing nothing, and then there’s glint reverents who do this passively.
Dagger 3 and 5 are on long cool downs, and corrupt boon was actually needed. Scepter is still a very weak and slow single target weapon.
Spiteful Spirit still isn’t good.
Some of the new corrupts will replace old corrupts in builds resulting in less power creep than you’d think. Will the new builds have as many corrupts as D/Wh + Staff Signet necromancers? Probably not. These changes were well thought out.
How did anet ignore focus when addressing anti-boon spam? The weapon is underpowered and already had an anti-boon theme that is now obsolete.

Seemed the strategy here was mostly to buff what was already popular, with a couple of additional changes thrown in.
Almost seems like they ran out of time changing things.
I thought so too, but just when i stripped their boons, they are all back up again and fast, especially mights and regens and switfness. So a good amount of boon corrupt, but nothing overkill.
it means THEY got me for " neg criticism in clever disguise".
Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.

Because Focus has a much bigger problem to deal with than just adding a corruption to one slightly underperforming skill. Dagger for example is already pretty good, but Dark Pact needed a slight buff, and corruption fit.
I love the new boon strip options. Running curses in pvp is now an option and makes team fights with weakening shroud kinda cool.
The aa boon strip is slow but really nice onnsingle target and makes pve easy for condi as well as signet power.
Having these changes is really really nice and makes the necro feel more versatile for boon strip.
The corrupt boon changes are a 40% buff and I love it
