I’ve known that most minions have never had out-of-combat regen, but since this is my first time getting the elite minion and using it, I have no way of knowing if it changed. Has it always been different in that way and it’s just never mentioned anywhere, or is this a new thing?

When it decided to attack your target it is useful. I still love fleshie the flesh golem but he loves to attack anything that moves on my screen.

That’s cool, that makes it a lot more appealing than the other “permanent” minions that just die after a while no matter what. The disposable minions don’t bother me so much because they’re designed to die anyway.

I was just curious because I’ve never seen or heard that mentioned anywhere until I noticed it just now.

The lack of OOC regen makes those minions an annoying nuisance. It bugged me the second I noticed it and deemed it broken in the first beta. Haven’t taken them serious since. Who thought its cool for a minion to almost die in one fight for them to instantly die in the next, then go on a 30 sec cooldown, making them near useless. There isn’t a logical reason at all that they all shouldn’t regen OOC. Makes no sense at all and the main reason most people find them useless.

I think it’s supposed to be a throwback to minions degenerating in the first game, the problem with that approach is that in the first game you were constantly replenishing your supply of healthy minions even as the old ones died off. You can’t do that here since you only get one of each and they only go on cooldown after dying.

If they’re dead-set on not letting them regenerate, I think a good compromise would be to set the cooldown ticking as soon as they’re summoned, rather than on death.

Or just make them all 20 second cooldowns

you have to remember that the main trait line for using Minions (although Blood Magic is also useful) is definitely Death Magic. One of the bonuses of maxing out that trait line is +30% boon duration (and hopefully +20% staff recharge), which works in conjunction with Mark of Blood, allowing for constant regen on your allies (i.e., minions)

Yep, except that:
1). the minions don’t attack targets
2). Mark of Blood needs an enemy to trigger
3). Bone fiends are ranged

I’ve taken the habit of blowing up my bone minions after each battle so I can summon them at full health at the beginning of the next battle…

Wait, people actually use bone minions as MINIONS and not as walking bombs?

How horrifying.

Yep. Which makes it the only minion actually worth using.

No. I don’t use it as minions. But I need it at 100% otherwise they’ll die BEFORE they reach their target.
