Q:

Hey guys, recently came back and I’m trying to figure out what the difference, if any is between base necro and the reaper. I’m having trouble finding a reason why one would stay the base class, as it seems reaper still has access to all necro skills + reaper abilities and the addition of being able to use a GS on top of the base necro weapons. I’ve looked up websites and wikis on reaper, and it only pretty much tells me the new abilities they have. I’ve heard base classes should be on par with the new elite specializations, but with necro and reaper, there seems to be no reason not to go reaper.

Reaper is melee oriented. Base necro has a choice between ranged or melee.

Can’t reapers use axes or staff as an off weapon though?

Yes, though Axe is a DPS loss against anything that doesn’t force a lot of melee downtime and the Staff is a utility weapon, not meant for damage.

I main Ele and Necro, though I have an alt of each profession at level 80.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
