Technically, it was worse during release since ai was so aggro you could have half of orr wanting to kill you, but the problems with that setup was more minion pathing then not working well with em attacking, which wasnt as much of a problem in GW1 since pathing was very universal. Thus any ai fixes aint as much actual script behaviour but more model, collision and hitbox detection (aka engine problems).
TLDR: Minion ai didnt get worse, but engine is terrible at hitbox and model detection.
Actually it’s been doing this for a while… A few months ago I was tinkering with different minion builds to see if anything outside the box was viable(nope) and noticed mostly bone minions and shadow fiend doing it the most. Literally they would just stand and watch for up to 15 seconds while I either attack, or am being attacked. Many many many times due to a fray, I assumed bone minions were in the fight because I’ve been attacking the group for quite a while and used putrid explosion only to notice 2 explosions behind me… Where there were no targets… Lesson learned.

It’s pathetic I will often kill both players and mobs long before minions even start attacking right now. Mostly useless at the moment.

its funny how its always going to be Conditionmancers being the most remotely viable (sure some powermancers are viable to an extent , but imo thats up for debate on which one ppl find more effective) , its funny how the most popular PvE build from GW1 (dont waste time with diff game BS ive heard it all before and a good dev team can adapt and not rely on excuses like that for anything beyond the games time/settings) has been incredibly useless in this game since launch,
Besides fixing that AI issues , their CDs need to be adjusted (pve anyway) to make that spec remotely viable. im not against engineers that love to try to work with a turret build have those CDs reduced as well , same with Ranger pet , PVE is a joke for people that love minion/pet type of classes. youd be surprised how many ppl would love to have those actually made effective again,
Hint pets / minions need that avoidance thing in PvE if CDs are not going to get reduced , they dont have the intelligence to avoid big aoes , and CDs make the classes less effective and suffer for it. they are PUNISHED for trying to play a build that revolves around that type a build , thats not right in anyway shape or form , sure some builds tend to be more effective / usefull then others , but pet builds in general are complete GARBAGE in pve. Its truly sad to see an entire spec made useless in the game.

Minions have recently become much more unresponsive, and are acting like their former bug infested selves. I have only tested this in SPVP.

Don’t expect much. Necromancers have historically been the devs’ least favourite class. In the next patch for example, necro is the only class out of eight who is only getting nerfs with no buffs to any aspect of play. Just hope they get around to fixing it before then.
Where is our resident pro minion necro when we need him. I don’t play minions much, but laughed yesterday as all of my minions, yes ALL of them just stood on the ramp and wouldn’t move for anything. Use skills, attacked, got attacked.

yeah noticed that bug too and its annoying. on my mes i have the same bug with the iwarden. it summons and stands there and does nothing……same with minions. they get summoned and then the hang out chilling while thief bashes me….oi anet simply does not know how to program ai right…..

it doesnt help that they hate and completely ignore necros in general selan , unless a necro kills one of their more favored classes , then they pay attention to nerf it into oblivion.
My necro killed a warrior the other day in wvw and when I pressed f to finish him at the end of the animation I got insta killed no downstate while he rallied.

odds are the warrior wasnt that great at his class , which is somehow surprising with how faceroll it is …..>.>
It seems bone minions are busted as well, if you summon them fresh after warping into an area they will bum-rush any mobs nearby, easiest to test on neutral mobs. I’ve reproduced this in world consistently.

Every other update they bug out necro minion AI.
Minions never really responded well unless you run a dagger and spammed #1 at max range to have them chase your target.
Lets wait and see todays patch,minions might get fixed something else might break.

Nothing has changed yet. Will we ever get any info on this?
Could we not Necro a 5 month old thread about something that gets asked multiple times a week? All they’ve said is that fixing it might cause big issues because it could break PvE AI, and so far that’s all we know.
