The wiki doesn’t appear to say anything and I’m unable to test it right now. Does anyone know if the Spite trait XII Close to Death applies to condition damage as well?

No, it does not. As far as I know, there isn’t a single “Boost damage by x%” trait that does.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

No.

There are no % Damage increase affects condition damage.

Condition Damage is only affected by the Condition Damage stat.

All our skills / abilities that bump direct damage just missed the boat. Instead this stuff should give Might, so it actually affects condition damage too, especially in a condition trait line.

I have a feeling they planned for Necros to be more of a hybrid class. But yes, it really should increase condition damage.

I would rather have 5k-9k Deathly Claws with the spite 30 trait then a few stacks of might.

Indeed.

The trait is extremely powerful for Power builds.

Which it should be, what with being a Grandmaster trait in the Power line (Before anyone goes and rants about it being a condition line, all classes have Condition Duration tied with their Power line and considering that nearly all of the traits in it benefit only Power based builds it really is a Power line)

Might is not as effective as a flat 20% bonus onto damage, especially if running with groups that can keep multiple Might stacks up anyway (Heck BiP + Sigils of Battle can keep up 16 Might stacks for a decent amount of time)

Yeah, Close to death isn’t the big problem, more power builds are going down that tree. But ‘Target the Weak’ is the same way at the end of Curses, which is absolutely a condition tree. If I have 5 conditions on someone, doing 10% more damage sounds great, except only about 30% of my damage is direct. No more than a couple hundred damage on a level 80 mob, hardly worthy of grandmaster status.

Soul Reaping can go either way, but once again there, Strength of Undeath only affects direct damage. Spiteful Marks likewise, only increases direct damage, when all the marks except Putrid have low damage and are primary condition appliers. Just not well thought out or synergistic.
