Does condition build need precision ?
The Greatsword isn’t a Condition Damage weapon, so you need to either change your build to Power or change your weapon set to Scepter/Dagger.
To answer your question about Precision, neither Precision nor Power are important for Condition builds per se; however, there are a few ways of adding on-crit Bleeds which can help, and since it’s fairly expensive getting together an armor set with Expertise (+to condi duration), I usually prefer Precision to Power as my secondary damage stat for Condi builds.
As for Power builds, the Reaper can pretty easily get away with going full Berserker in PvE, though you could go Knights armor instead, or even Valkyrie’s armor if you commit to taking Decimate Defenses or Deathly Precision. I’m still a pretty big noobasaurus in sPvP, but I’ve been having good success with the Soldier’s amulet there.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
In sPvp I use carrion and I often camp staff. I do use GS for GS4-5. I don’t use curses so there’s no reason for me to care about precision at all. SR/spite/Reaper with deathly chill and dhuum.
The alternative is rabid with SR/curses/reaper but I usually just play with carrion because IMO vit is the best defensive stat for necro because it is also partially offensive for us.
Precision is not necessary for a condi reaper. Precision maximizes condi damage, and precision allows reapers to hit the maximum condi damage ceiling possible because of Target the Weak.
Rabid amulet combined with Undead runes and Curses traits enables the condi reaper to achieve the highest condition damage possible for reapers, if that is the player’s goal. That is the only function of precision.
No, most condi reapers use carrion and take spite over curses.
The crit procs from curses are very very weak because bleeds do poor damage, so the extra power you get from carrion is more useful.
