Dual dagger wells?
For most of the leveling i ran D/D with wells and a scepter on second (no offhand, meaning i reused the off hand dagger). This because i worried that staff 1 as a ranged pull would risk pulling more than i needed thanks to its pierce. Worked acceptably, imo. At least until Orr…
Well of Suffering! The beast; plus the whole party benefits.
For a build, work around that.

Does anyone what build uses d/d with wells? I remember running AC with a necro who had d/d and using wells. Needless to say, that was the FASTEST run I’ve ever done, even faster than having elementalists. A friend of mine once said “d/d wells crit” but…I have no idea how to even approach that
EDIT: I should mention that I only do PvE
Anything that does direct damage in the game can crit. Just bump up your precision.
I can give you the one I run, I have to say that I only pvp though so not sure how it would fare in PVE.
30(V,VII,XII) / 15(IV) / 10(II) / 0 / 15(VI)
6/6 thief runes on armor
fire/battle sigil on daggers
battle sigil on staff
Knights ammy (berserker jewel)
Utilities:
consume conditions

signet of undeath
well of suffering
lich elite

Is it even worth it to make your wells ground targeting? I mean if I’m going d/d, I don’t see why ground targeting would be useful
I really prefer D/Warhorn, if just for the daze which keeps things in your wells and makes it much easier to approach your targets safely. Also, locust swarm boosts your close range dps a bit and makes it easier for you to keep up with your targets.
Dagger/Focus, Focus4 gives 12 stacks of vulnerability if bounced off a single target, couple that with Well of Suffering and that’s an easy 20 stacks. I personally run 30/20/0/0/20 and can get slightly above 3k in dagger crits with berserker gear. A Sigil of Rage is nice too, makes the whole dungeon party (ranger especially, since you’re essentially doing their job for them) go WTF.
I’ve had success with this setup in sPvP as well, running chill on blind with the corresponding well, and the chilling hand. Lots of control, and damage.
If you’re doing a well build, dagger/warhorn and dagger/focus are much more optimal.

well they do provide a way to mess with those pesky ranged mobs while your dagger is carving up the melee mob.
Hm, was thinking of going dagger/warhorn but I wasn’t sure. Should I keep staff as my secondary weapon just for the marks?
Why would anyone go d/d? That’s like the two great tastes that taste BLERRGH together.
dagger off-hand is for condition damage while dagger mainhand is power/crit. those two together wouldnt really work. hence warhorn is a much better choice (cripple, swiftness, extra damage and a daze, all which are relative close range)
OH dagger4 is often used to transfer conditions to your enemies (e.g. after BiP) and the dagger5 is nice for the weakness. Warhorn has better synergy with a power build but a d/d build is quite viable as well.
I run D/D with wells so it was probably me you were playing with. But there are plenty of builds that use D/D wells. I personally am a power and vita necro so basically I have high hp high power and with wells such as well of darkness and DS I tank a kittenload. I feel this power build is an alternative to what a lot of necros play with condition specced build.
I’m using this Pve build with no real problems so far : http://www.gw2db.com/skills/calc/necromancer#5|0|500|1199|1198|3918|1205|15|1255|0|0|0|0|0|0|25|2331|1572|0|30|1580|2320|693|0|0|0|0|3|15|5|28034|28028|53500|53500|53500|53500|53500|26065|21080|21080|21080|21080|21080|
I favor toughness over vita and I always keep a staff as a backup weapon.
It might have been me.. Was the necro named Misha Stillgrave? Female human short in black and green robes? Was the necro tanking most of the time? (Well I tank it all but the bonus troll which hits very hard but is easily melee kited.) If so there’s a good chance it was me.
I run about 1-4 full clears of AC a day. I do it for the money and badges for PVT armor which I’m collecting for all my 80’s (for the hell of it). I also just enjoy running dungeons when I’m not in WvW with my guild. And AC exp groups seem to fill up the fastest.
I use D/D with Staff back up in my power build for PvE ,WvW, and SPvP.
On a side note offhand dagger is extremely effective in power build. Anyone that tells you other wise is just wrong…
Deathly Swarm is just amazing …. 3 bounce blind and 3 conditions transfer… why would any melee build NOT want this .. and on a fast CD…
Enfeebling Blood is just as amazing for a melee build.. 10 second ground target AOE fumble and vulnerability… which you can keep up 40% of the time… Again why would a melee build not want this ?
I’d take these two utilities over the other 2 off hand options for necro 95% of the time.
I will cede that the secondary effects are condition based bleeds on both attacks, which do enjoy the condition build stats.. but they are very effective with any stats for the above reasons..
If your using either of these attacks for the bleeds attached to them and not the utilities they offer .. your doing it wrong
Since when did dagger spread vulnerability? Sure, weakness is great for a PvE hero who avoids bosses or anything that might crit. I’m not going to say that condition-transfer is totally worthless, even on the class that has as much condition removal as we do, but you do realize that you have to have a condition to spread it, and you spread it at minimum possible strength if you’re a power build, and without the spread a blind on an 18s cooldown is… less than impressive? Oh, and again worthless against bosses.
If you want stuff that will actually work on bosses, you use focus. If you want to be a trash-clearing hero… well anyone can do that.

I like these suggestions. Thank you everyone for helping I’m thinking of going PVT armor with some crit jewels, but definitely the PVT armor.
I’m sorry I meant weakness not vulnerability… so in that I agree with you Manticore.
In every other way I respectfully disagree with your opinions.
My build and playstyle utilizes the dagger offhand very well in power gear.. It allows me to tank PvE much better than the other choices in almost all encounters. I also use it heavily in WvW.
I simply meant that ignoring the great utility of a weapon because it has some bleed damage attached to it is foolish at best.
If anyone’s build does not need the specific utility the dagger offhand brings then don’t use it.
This does not make it a condition only weapon.
The other 2 offhand choices do not fit near as well to compliment the power build I use. Not say’n they are bad.. they just are bad for my build…
I will say your right about the focus, if you go to the forum and cut and paste a cookie cutter build, then you’ll want to use what it says .. In almost all cases the forums recommend the focus.
