Hey guys.

I rolled Necromancer when the game came out hoping to be a minionmaster (Loved it in gw1), but found them to be lacking.

At this point I’ve found the game isn’t rigorous enough (aside from high fractals) to demand super levels of min/maxing, so I want to try to make minionmaster work.

The question I’ve been going after is: Should I gear myself glassy or tanky?

If I go straight P/T/V gear then I’ll probably never die, especially with the minions stealing health all the time.

If I roll Zerker/Knight mix I can do a lot more damage (Huge Life Blast Crits!) While maintaining the minion army.

Both have their merits, I was hoping to hear some feedback from anyone that might have tried either of these?

4 people that like to work together to finish a dungeon + minions = chaos and a lot of grape of behinds. Its not much about min maxing but that they will make all equivalents of the graveling scavengers aggro (it was kinda fixed with the attack focus patch, but minions still dont like being alone for a long amount of time).
If you really do wanna roll with it id say a 20/0/30/20/0 with knights armor and berserker trinkets would do the job if the party and/or your minions can ensure enough death happends around you to be in DS 75% of the time (WoB/Blood Fiend – for bosses, Bone minions, Bone Fiend, Flesh Wurm and Golem/Lich -for bosses; being the slot skills)

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Depends on your team. The trait build would be the same, you’d just swap gear when you wanted to change.

I would probably say more towards damage or at least a hybrid, bunker MMs are great, but the damage output is pretty low, and in a dungeon you don’t really need the absurd tankiness you get with it. Really, I’d suggest going as far towards glass cannon as you can, as long as you can go an entire dungeon without getting downed in reasonable situations (we all know Necro’s wonderful tendency to take 100% aggro all day err’yday).

Sorry man, you can’t make work something broken.
The first and most great problem is, as every ppl repeat every post, the AI.
The second problem is pets are too much squishy, in fractals they just get oneshotted.
The last thing i can say is, however some ppl say that they help tanking, still they aren’t worth an utility slot; i explain: if you go with a condition or power build, you’ll rely on the weapon mainly, so you can switch utilities in different circumstances to help your team. You can’t do such things in a Minionmancer build.

I tried to make them work, i put all my efforts, the result is that I wasted a lot of money and time (5 months) and ended up with a big delusion.
Just forget minions until Anet doesn’t decide their objective is to make Necromancer work properly (their objectives actually are others, so they won’t waste time on making work different builds on necromancer).

Am I a bad necro? I wonder how would you would demonstrate it. No need to reply, i just had to give an educate answer for that.
" I want to try to make minionmaster work." this is the point for which i gave my good hopinion, I wouldn’t do it otherwise.
I didnt QQ about anything, and really, thnx for your effort, but i didn’t need it and I found your reply really rude and provocating, so aknowledge that you got a nice report

Sorry to Zyfram if i stole a little bit of space.

PS: Knight will give you that “average” damage a power Necro should basically do (just to being less useless to your team), but unlukly there are no ascended gears with those stats. And as i wrote up, when you’ll be in high fractals the MM build will be worthless with all its consequences…
