ETA on Death Shroud UI Rework
No timeline. Similar to the condition cap problem. Working on it, but no planned release date.
They don’t give times until they are 100% sure they are rolling it out then, often they don’t even announce what they are doing until they are close to rolling it out, as well.

Since they don’t update there customers on whats going on they will be losing ppl. Pretty sure the march update is going to see a big player drop off unless big changes are made to the game.
I know they always wait to the last second to tell us something about new features, but this one in particular was announced more than a month ago and they said that this was the first step of the Death Shroud… so they have in mind more changes to it, that’s why I want at least and update about that.
We don’t need a date, we need an update of what’s going on, that’s all.
EDIT
I’ve searched the original post from JP and it’s from 2 months ago, not 1.
Here you have: Jon Peters on DS Changes Post

Actually ANet is by far the most transparent game development company I have ever seen. They talk to the community a lot, there are AMAs, plenty of interviews, they post fairly often in forums, and overall there is a pretty decent sense of what is happening in the near future.
But they can’t just say “we are planning to fix necros” without getting bombarded by people wanting to know the exact second of the exact day that those changes are coming out, and wanting to know the specifics of what is being changed, why, and how. Instead they give very general things (we all know there are going to be bug fixes), and then only announce specifics when they are actually nearing the release of that.
Also some of the beauty of GW2 is you can quit for 2 months, for whatever reason, and just jump back in later. That said, they are not going to lose many players. People always say “If you don’t change everything right now everyone is quitting”, but it doesn’t happen. They might lose a few players here and there, but it won’t be a big deal in the overall scheme. Also, they are introducing another event tomorrow (seriously, this game has had an event almost every month since Halloween).

I’m not sure what kind of update they could really do; it will come out when it is ready, and it will be ready when they have the programming resources available. Their programmers are the biggest choke point of content to my knowledge, and this is stuck there as well.
And the wisdom of Bhawb shall set you free :O

ArenaNet Drone detected.
Amen to that.
Shhh, you aren’t supposed to know that.
ArenaNet Drone detected.
So accurate and entertaining. I haven’t laugh so hard in my tomb for ages.
I’m already writing two posts for two different occasions – one in case the UI is fixed tomorrow and second, more harsh, in case it’s left as it is for the introduction of matchmaking and ratings.

All my bets are on the second one

Yes, they are very transparent but only with things like events, new features and things like that, not about professions.
If they were truly transparent, this forum should have more red posts… I invite you to for the 5 first threads with red posts….
The thing is, they messed up necro in betas, when they realized that it was very OP (on times that DS was our Downed State) and they just gave us another Downed State like every other profession and left DS like it was, with the UI of a Downed State.
Conclussion: unfinished profession.
Furthermore, I consider myself a hardcore gamer and I like to play everything: PvE, WvW and PvP. But think now of people only interested on PvP… they really don’t give a kitten about those monthly events and that’s why this game is getting the tag of a “PvE game”
I honestly don’t think that it would be a good use of time for them to post in all the profession forums. That opens up 8 forums that they would be expected to keep track of and post in, and that means more time spent away from… you know, doing things that are actually important.
The profession isn’t unfinished because of a single change they made and didn’t have the resources to completely realize. You can’t really say because DS still has a downed UI that the entire class is unfinished, they just saw a problem, did a fix for it, and did not have the programming resources to finish the transition fully yet.
The PvP was unfinished, they have made posts about it before. It is being improved, and people are still playing PvP. But PvP doesn’t really have the capacity for monthly events like PvE does. They can’t have world-changing events in PvP, can’t have santa come visit us in the mist, there is really very little they can do like that for PvP.
The problem at the end of the day is they have a limited number of resources, and since there are so many classes to deal with, and so many problems that are shared across all classes, the balancing of individual class skills is way down the list. Even full class mechanics are way down the list. Just the nature of the beast.
This is a freemium game remember, and they don’t have a hoard of people being staffed on the 15 dollars a month fee from their millions of players. I am no proponent of Anet, but they do a pretty good job for a free-to-play.
My beef on this issue is, like so many others, if you have vauge notions of what you want to do, and you are just looking into the problem, just don’t post about it (anet). I would much prefer a post that was very specific. Here are the 1/2/3 things we note that are a problem with DS, and here are the 1/2/3 things we are thinking of trying in the future.
The reason the player base has such a hard time with the official posters here is that their comments are always, “and we are looking into that, to be fixed soon”. They are no more or less trasparent than any other game compay in that respect. I for the life of me, don’t understand why developers just don’t level with the player base. “Look, we tried X/Y/Z and it failed horribly for these reasons, so we are back at square 1”.
In either case, no matter how they presented the data back to the forum community, especially the professions board, unless the information came with a big buff to the class, they would angrily lash out… So there is that to prevent them from trying to have a rational discussion.
