Hi guys!
I’ve played for over 80 hours now with my highest level reach being level 23 because I keep making characters and deleting them because I can’t find the right one for me. I’ve now narrowed it down to elementalist and necromancer and would like to ask you on your opinion for both classes! Also I have some side questions.

Which class is more fun?
Solo PvE gameplay?
What are they like early/mid/late levels?

Fun? Subjective – the only way you will know which is more fun is to play them both and make that distinction yourself

Solo PvE? Elementalist has more DPS when running pure glass builds which are not easy to keep alive in a solo setting – Necro is definitely more forgiving and inherently tankier due to DeathShroud

early/mid/late – not much to say here besdies leveling a necro is easier but it has been so long for me I do not have much of an opinion on leveling

Group Content – Here is the key where one class is clearly more suited than the other which is Elementalist – one of the best classes for stacking might and other boons – great class in WvW zergs with staff utilizing water fields and blasts to heal your teammates – Necromancer in general is a selfish profession with little to no group buffs/heals

My suggestion is to not delete your necro/elementalist and eventually get them both to 80 they are both great classes for AoE destruction which is useful in group (zerg) combat in WvW – Ele is much more useful for dungeons/fractals due to group buffs

Become like me – 2 Eles and 2 Necros

Both are fun in their own rights, buuut, they are both better at some respective levels of play as Narkodx explained…

While this is true, we are probably the best consistent damage dealers in zergs, even if selfish. You can do insane damage with piercing life blasts in wvw group battle

Try it for yourself. Experience different classes, learn their strength and weakness.

I LOVE ele especially D/D, bouncing everywhere and making my fingers tired. It is very fun to me.

And yea, necro is the best damage dealer in wvw group. ele is more on the support side. It is not selfish because a very large portion of the damage depends on necro.

The issue with Elementalist for me, is that you can’t slow down and relax with their attacks, since you will usually benefit from attunement cycling. When I log into my ele, it feels like a chore now compared to my other toons. Necro is much more laid back to play so for that reason I would recommend it more highly.

the ‘problem’ is … life begins at 80

I am the menace. The one whose will is done. The haunting chill upon your neck. I am the Conundrum.

There is more repeated button mashing in Ele than Necro. Memorizing Ele’s rotation and the group support effects takes a bit of time but the results are powerful. Necro is more independent of group play because it has so little of the support other professions are addicted to (might, heals, swiftness, cleanses, etc.)

Before 80, just relax and learn the professions. You gain much more XP just exploring everything PvE has to offer than if you intentionally grind mobs. Crafting, WvW, personal story, map exploration, daily rewards, and events all can be fun and useful for learning your profession while doing some of everything nets you fast progression. You can go 1 to 80 in just a few weeks.
