Elite skills
Okay, after using all elite skills, let me first ask, why D/D? If you want melee i’d suggest D/WH or D/F since an offhand dagger is for conditions. But back to the point, you seem to be power based, so lich form isnt all too bad for you as the #1 skill hits hard for power builds, as well as its other attacks. Plague form is really used for condi builds since it spreads conditions. But my favorite is the flesh golem as it brings something for every build. It will be your melee buddy for close combat fighting, or even if youre a condi necro, he can keep cripples up to kite foes and knock them down giving you more opportunity to deal more damage to your incapacitated foe, from melee attacks or conditions.
Thanks for the advice, I will definitely try out the flesh golem as it sounds sweet. For d/d I guess I really appreciate the extra condition removal and blind that it provides, and dagger 5 just looks awesome… Not the best answer so I will reconsider focus as I really dislike warhorn 5. Again thanks!

First of all, I recommend using Flesh golem as well. I personally like it since it’s on most of the time and by that it has a few benefits like Taking aggro from you, ability to know down enemies and of course the extra damage is always nice.
Plague is more condition based so it wouldn’t fit you imo, but note that it’s an awesome move for WvW no matter what
As for your weapons, I too recommend Dagger/Warhorn… I don’t understand why would you dislike WH 5, it looks similar to D 5, the swiftness is great to move around and constant cripple is just fantastic, it’s the main reason why it works so great with Dagger: Because they’re both melee weapons.
Focus and Dagger Off-hand are both ranged weapons.
I can see how focus would be good for both, especially since it gives you regeneration, yet OH Dagger doesn’t fit MH Dagger at all :\
Good luck

Flesh golem is king while leveling.
The reason I dislike the warhorn is because I’m lvling my necro by the champ train in queensdale… And warhorn swiftness always puts me into combat unnecessarily.. For example, when we’re running past the bandits even if someone else has aggro I always end up in combat. But I understand the warhorn is definitely the more logical choice. thanks again for even actually replying
Use spectral walk and locust signet for mobility to avoid combat.
But yeah for general dps increase you want to go flesh golem. For fights where you need aoe blind or an instant stability skill take plague. Lich is less dps than dagger so its only useful as a ranged option (only place I would use it is on the ice elemental/dredge powersuit in the dredge fractal).
Only Plague works under water. Plague is also the condi based one. (Tho it’s AoE blind and nice stats boost while up has it’s situations for Power based builds too)
Litch, is your power build focused single target pew pew.
Golem isn’t affected by your gear etc. So awesome while leveling as you don’t ‘need’ to keep such sexy gear if your pet dose the work for you.
DON’T GET WET. He dies!
He will bug out HEAPS, usual trick is to move a few steps and auto attack again. One of the clipping/pathing bugs he dose, actually can work to your favor. Getting him to charge a WvW door, will make him do full charge damage in 1 spot.
P.S. he’s pretty ugly.

Not Just that, if he charges into a wall period its stationary, so if you catch an enemy npc or player in that full charge, it’s just downright devastating
Just to note, Norn Wolf, Sylvari Turrets and Reaper of Grenth are all good for leveling if you dont wanna go easy mode, but yeah Golem is a demon vs mobs till around level 70, he falls behind in orr and frostgorge just how the other minions go weaker about 10 levels before (excluding Wurm who is a valid option all the way).
For leveling, Golem (any and all minions, really). To end game, my option is lich if you are a powermancer.
And I also use Dagger/Dagger. It isn’t the “normal” weaponset, but I like a lot the skills that the OH dagger gives me: they are very nice for the way I play…
…and besides, I don’t like to roam the battlefield with a trumpet in a hand. XD Two daggers look awesome.
Try d/d, d/w, and d/f, and choose the one set that better suits your playstyle. Your opinion is the only one that matter, really.

Is it me or is plague really weak? In the current wvw meta it does almost no damage and the conditions, well from all warrior I just see immune x 5 and you are so kitten slow in this form that squishies are kinda unharmed too.
Besides tanking with around 5400 armor I do not see the use for this:/
Thanks for the tips guys, I really dislike playing minion master (I feel like a walking circus) but flesh golem on its own is it actually so awesome.
I don’t seem to be able to edit my previous post… Strange.
it is actually so awesome*
RedSpectrum.1975 > ohh yeh! If a little cheap & dirty. ;-P
aspirine.6852 > AoE Blind! AoE slow! Stability! I actually use this often even in power based sPvP specs. Awesome 3v3+ node fights.
It also was just a bit slow, not really weak, back in the old days when we did condi’s as damage over time, not burst damage ;-P
Flesh golem is great in some circumstances but but Plague is the king elite for me. It gives you TONS of extra vitality and toughness when you’re in plague form and you can spam #2 for never-ending blindness on foes so that anyone can cut them down with impunity. If I’m not in a group with other damage-dealers I alternate between the #1 and #2 skills to keep mobs blinded while I stack bleeds on them.
My build is a conditions build, however, so Plague is very strong for me. I’m thrilled and amazed at how I can take on multiple mobs (including veterans). Between Death Shroud, life-stealing, and Plague, I am a beast.
The dagger off hand is fine if you like the condition removal and weakness it provides. Off hands are personal preference.. mostly.

Bump, agree on Flesh Golem.
Does it go all over the place? Yes.
Has it saved me more times than I can count? YES!!!!

If you pop WH 5 before you plague, you get swiftness, aoe cripples on top of w/e cripple you do with plague, and the possibility to proc more siphons/sigil effects on crit. ;-) You’re welcome.
~Surrender fiend and you will get an easy death
~I could promise you the same…but it would be a lie…
Honestly Necro is in a pretty good place for elites – I personally use all of them.
Flesh Golem: This is great for giving yourself physical damage for inanimate objects while on a condition build. “Charge” can often insta-kill objects if it doesn’t go through the object. Plus it is also great CC. I almost always skill on my Condition build with the exception of sPvP or running to a keep in WvW past a zerg.
Plague: This is your tank form. Quad toughness and triple vit coupled with #2 being an aoe blind every second makes this beautiful. Add on Chill on Blind trait, and you have a win button against melees. This skill is pretty much a must in sPvP, and useful against groups in PvE and WvW. A good form for both condition and zerker builds.
Lich Form: This is a kill button. With triple power and double precision you’ll be hitting like a truck no matter your build type, but has the best synergy with zerker builds. Unfortunately due to the very long cooldowns of your other Lich form skills along with their relatively slow cast times, most of the time you’ll be auto-attacking which is why it works best with classes that have crit damage. Pretty much this is an guaranteed 1v1 win against any class but thief (since they have heavy evades or can just permastealth until it’s down). I tend to use this when on my zerker build in PvE and WvW. sPvP depends if they stick together (plague form for high survival capping) or catch them in 1-2s (where Lich just outright kills them).
TL;DR – You should get all of the elites. Personally I’d suggest starting with Plague Form as it’s your only underwater elite and is useful no matter your build type in no matter what your game type, but you still can’t go wrong with Flesh Golem.

Plague is somewhat weak if you only use it for damage and don’t have any traits/gear that synergize with it.
Bleeds are a necromancer’s strongest condition damage and Plague #1 is a bleed. My runes and food buffs all increase bleed durations to where they overlap each other for massive bleed damage.
If you have the trait that chills on inflicting blindness, spamming Plague #2 not only prevents your foes from being able to hit you, it practically freezes them in place. I see this is a support tactic: you lock down mobs so your allies can beat the crap out of them. You can always pop out of Plague, target a mob, and use Epidemic to multiply everything even more.
The trade-off with Plague is that while it doesn’t seem to do huge damage, because your vitality and toughness are hugely buffed while you’re in plague form it makes for a great survival tool. For example, if both Deathshroud and your heal are on cooldown, Plague can save your necrotic butt by buying you time.
Playstyle is a matter of preference and performance, so use whatever elite seems to give you the best results.
Terrible and almost useless in pve, all of them
