Interesting idea; however, if an elite well was ever put in the Necromancer’s repertoire, I’d figured it would be more like this:

I think we all agree that a downed finisher on final hit is the theme.
Id just make it really op with a light/dark theme by also rezzing allies on final hit, so its either rezz or stompbot.

If you are downed while standing in the well and the enemy that downed you is also standing in the well, the enemy is downed instead and you are revived.
(A high risk and highly situational skill with a very high reward. You need to anticipate your impending doom and drop a well and hope your enemy stands in it while he delivers the downing blow. )
I am kind of split between having an elite well with DoT and an elite support well that gives a party buff.
The first thought I had was for a well that creates a column of rising air but that could break the game.
The second thought was a well that gives vigor.

Vigor is worthless after nerf so think about something else lol.

An elite well that finishes downed enemies would be the dream!
The problem with a finishing well is that it may be thematically appropriate, but it’d be a slap in the face to Thieves since their special features keep getting pillaged by other professions.
As for Elite Wells, I’d love to see one that creates a large area that heals allies, damages enemies, and rapidly regenerates or summons minions.
There isn’t a ton of great stuff for people who want a skeleton army, but it’s not entirely unworkable. Really, it just requires more skills like “Rise!” and the Mark from Lich Form.
Alternatively, if you really wanted a Well that was dangerous to downed players, make it an instant cast with a single interrupt when laid down, and give it extra damage to downed players… Maybe in the form of Poison stacks. That’ll make it feel a lot more of a threat to downed players by a lot, counter revive attempts once in an AoE, and still not take away the Thief’s special thing.
Honestly, having it just tick damage and do more to downed players, then have any player finished (regardless of how) while the Well is in effect could explode in poison and bleeding (or poison and a minion that lasts a brief time but has very high dps)

Thieves? Why? Safe stomping was never exclusive to thieves.

In case you’re referring to their elite Impact Strike – Finishing Blow, that doesn’t make them any more special than classes that have invuln stomps or stuff like the horrendously op Function Gyro.

That would be absolutely useless.
There are tons of other ways to cleave or poison downed players and those who attempt to revive them, non of which are as reliable or effective as an actual stomp.
A new well needs some unique utility, and simply adding more damage would neither be creative nor a useful solution.

If Anet would make more bosses and Champ lvl creatures really use boons we’d be in high demand.
What I’d like to seen in an elite well is something that gels well with some of our best builds. of course as a PvE WvW Wellomancer any decent elite well would be good for me but I’d like to see a well that MMs and Condi necros can use as well(No pun intended

Necro has a conditional second life bar. It is not a real life bar and takes the place of invulnerability, hard CC, and evasions.
Necromancer is a face-tanker, unique among professions, dependant on Shroud for most damage mitigation, leaving minions for the rest.

The phrase “2nd life bar” is one of the reasons necros were so bad for so long. Please don’t say it again.. shhhhh don’t want the devs hearing that
To address your point seriously though. Necros have no other major defense so if they ever did nerf shrouds lifeforce pool we’d be the most squishy class in the game instantly. Now that many of our major issues have been improved (not fixed but improved) we have 1 main issue left which is synergy with other players. The main thing we have going for us that really sets us apart from other classes is boon and condition manipulation. It turns out that now we have decent use to a party in PvP and WvW but we don’t have as much to contribute in PvE because most mobs don’t use boons. Our last major buff we got a TON of boon removal and hardly any creatures to remove boons from. I really hope they make a few raids and some fractals that have creatures spamming boons. That’s the only way necro will be in high demand for PvE. It’s not to say we can’t hold our own but usually there’s a better option. This is probably why we have threads like this one asking for new Elites. We really want something to contribute. Most of our wells have some decent support feature so an elite well should hopefully help up work with others.

Damages foes in the area with each tick. Does double damage against foes without boons on them. On each tick Well of Destruction gains the effects of every nearby active well cast by the player.

The ability to down multiple enemies at the same time with one skill is a bit OP in my book. I consider the function gyro OP too. That’s off topic though.
My idea for an elite well is a well that can utilize the effects of nearby active wells to become a supercharged pool of death when used right. The effect copy is every effect of the copied well including that well’s damage and only lasts while that well is in effect. If the copied well ends before well of destruction, well of destruction would lose the extra effect.
If WoD copied Well of Corruption, Well of suffering, and Well of darkness effects (since those wells were active) it would tick for nearly 2000 damage and with each tick strip a boon, blind enemies, and apply a stack of poison. Boonless enemies would take more damage.
This could be slightly OP. The downside of the skill is that to utilize it to maximum power you have to blow all your other wells. This puts your eggs in one basket to say, leaving you vulnerable while the wells are unavailable. The well effect copy only applies to wells cast by the same caster as the well of destruction. It won’t take effects from other necromancers’ wells or chronomancer wells. Pre-nerf ideas:
- 50% more damage for boonless targets
- only take 50% of damage effects from other wells.
Elite wells? they should be removing wells altogether and replace them with something that does not involve someone having to stand in a small circle for it to be effective.
Well i think an elite well should do something “special”, just adding some blatant conditions to have a condi well isnt the way to go.

Pulsing high Damage and Healing.
Deals 17% damage to downed enemies per tick, rezzes allies for 17% per tick.
or
Well of the Abyss:
Small damage per tick.
Enemies lose all boons and cant apply boons while inside.
Enemies cant clear conditions or stunbreak while inside the well.
Allies gain resistance for each second inside of the well.
Well of Miasma
Unleash a torrent of foul energy, applying conditions on your foes and transferring conditions from allies to foes.
Applies 3 stacks of 5 sec torment
Applies 3 stacks of 5 sec poison
Applies 5 sec of chill
Applies 3 stacks of 5 sec burning
Applies 5 sec of blind
Transfers 2 conditions per pulse
Per pulse
On final pulse applies 3 sec of fear as well.
