Guild Wars 2

Hello guys. I am looking to roll a couple of classes but need to try and work out what is best to work on.

I have a level 80 Engi. Love running that as it’s a great class.

I have also looked at mesmer as a possible class to roll.

I play pve and WvW. Dungeons and love zerging. Fotm as well.
A lot of content I like.

So do necros cover this. Are they viable. Can you kill well with the class

You’re going to perform about the same on a necro as an engi, except you have nothing like elixer s to negate damage. Death shroud negates some, but it can only soak up as much as it’s own life force pool, once that is gone it overflows into your own hp pool.

Aside from that problem, necro is superior to engi when it comes to minions vs turrets. We lack the mobility of engi but can sustain a bit longer and can do just as many conditions. Boons are not readily available to necro including stability unless you trait heavily for it, even then it relies on death shroud (read comments about DS above) and you will get knocked around like a ragdoll. Can you kill well with the class? Yeah, depends on you though and how well you play it. Just look up some of the necro vids on youtube to get an idea of what all is entailed with necro play.

Engi and Necro have a number of similar functions. If you want to try something different, Mes is probably a better choice. If you want to play something similar to your Engineer, then Necro is probably the closest profession.

Seriously they do every one of the things you listed ver well. FOTM loves guards…everyone loves guards.

Engi and Necro have very similar playstyles (if you play condi). Some things will be different, but overall it will still feel similar. If that is what you want, Necro is good, if you want something different look somewhere else.
