There is a reason why on duel servers necros are allowed to start with 20% life force.

I cannot express how frustrated I feel the many, many times I have been killed when leaving Death Shroud because my utility bar has a delay after… If you’re going to enter Death Shroud be it offensive or defensive you better get a bit of distance before coming out of it.

the whole mechanic behind necros is garbage to begin with, stance dancing is terrible for any class whatsoever, and necros gain nothing by entering death shroud other than a fake “life bar” that gets one shot by every other class out there
this whole class needs a complete overhaul, it’s literally better to just roll any other class

ANet announced that this will be fixed in the balance patch, thankfully.

I was just in fotm 31, watched as everyone in the party but a warrior wiped, Warrior solo’d mai trin from half health to her death, he took 0 damage 90% of the time. He dodged maybe 30 times total.. Engineer has immunity to conditions; Mesmer just gives headaches; Thief.. where is it? Oh there it is.. hey why am I bleeding out?; No comment on Elementalist because they deserve whatever power they have.; Guardian could be so much more, but it won’t be.
I’m quitting GW2 to play EQN when it comes out. =| At least I know there won’t be anything unbalanced there, as you can play every class.

Hahh, don’t be naive.
Btw staff against Mai Trin and Well of Power helps a lot and actual tactics. Also, team mates can bring aoe cleanse, like Purging Flames and traited Virtue from guardian, Null field from mesmer, Healing turret and Elixir gun from engi (why on earth he traited Automated response?) and thief is … well, its good when you have waterfields to blast a few times and stealth 4 members in the barrage phase.
You just bring up one encounter where actualy necro doesn’t sucks hard, but goodbye you can send your gold to me.
I really like the idea behind deathshroud so i would be sad if they gave us a different class mechanic. But i agree that the implementation is somewhat lacking.
It is awesome mechanic, its the reason why i rolled and stayed necro. The thing is that whole class is balanced with the idea that every 10 second we can jump into deathshroud, it happens quite rare that you have 0 life force but when it does happen the class is completely broken.
You loose interrupt, cc, damage, mobility, condition, burst and if you are traited for some DS trait then it only gets worse.
I play daggers now so if im locked in my dagger set i need to be in melee range to get life force, but to get in melee range i need life force.
Or for example i must take soul marks, why? Because i cant hit thief with my melee dagger or with staff autoattack cause its projectile, so i am forced to take trait + waste my marks on hes dodges just so i have enough life force to enter DS so i can cc him and hit with my dagger or staff nr1.
Basicly the fact that you need to always think how to get minimum life force cripples the class in pvp.
Either you need to make it so necro can always jump into ds every 10 second or add load of rabbits to kill in every pvp map.

My personal preference would be to see this and the “0” tick of DS to be traited in SR for taking no damage for that one second the DS is timing out. I don’t think it would be overpowered as long as it was a master level trait. To be honest… this was sort of how it used to work anyhow with no traits. (no oveflow)
Heaven forbid someone might have to time a skill carefully against a necro because he would have some limited immunity.

Yup, hopefuly the delay is realy getting fixed. It sux tho, that bugfixes are repacked as buffs
Is the 20% a common rule? I heard anti-necro noobs say 0, noob necros 100, and most others who dont know much on the subject say 50% LF.
I personaly always thought 20% to be sweet spot, fair for BOTH sides. Makes me quite happy that others think same

I think beeing able to enter death shroud is a must without any traits, any pvp necro (beside maybe mm) is already forced to spend 20 points in SR just to get some life force.
Just had another team pvp game where i literally was chasing around mesmer clones just so i can get some life force and help my team on middle without getting one shotted.
Just changing the SR bonus to +life force generation would help immensely.

So 1" invulnerability every 10"? Sounds overpowered, considering even guardians get 1 Aegis every 40" rather than 10! Though I guess it’d actually be less often than once per 10" since you’ll be generating LF, so you’d need to run it down to get that 1" invulnerability. Or did you mean on EVERY exit from DS, not just when you’ve run out? I see it being a problem as it would make generating too much life force a hassle if what you wanted instead was to get a brief window to activate your heal. How ridiculous would it be if people did their best to NOT generate life force! Especially since we can’t actually heal while in DS, so you’d be forced to stay in it (with no access to your stun breaks or other
But frankly all this stuff is trying to fix a broken wheel axle by sticking a broomstick through it. They should instead change LF into an energy bar that enables F1-F4 abilities, and give us some proper escapes rather than this broken second health bar mechanic that’s impossible to balance around! When you consider that the amount of LF present is MOSTLY a factor of how long a fight has been going on for rather than the necromancer’s skill, it is ridiculous that when we’re full it takes a whole bar of cooldowns to kill us, while when we’re empty we’re a frail meatshield with no escapes or damage mitigation at all!

The other thing I’ll say again. The new CD on ‘Exit DS’ really needs to go. It would make things like ‘Deathly Invigoration’ viable. It would allow a skilled player to ‘drop’ out of DS as things died, to get the life force. It’s just f’in stupid the skilled player waits for life force to drain rather than exits DS (As this doesn’t get the +10sec)

Hasn’t that always been there? I’m pretty sure I only ever got the “on activation” cooldown if my LF ran out while I was in it.
